Reviews of Pella Windows & Doors of Louisville
"Jeff Clements is the best in the business! You won’t find someone more knowledgeable about windows!"
"$30,000. Window and door project. Signed contract 2/11/23. Used their Green Sky Financing option that offered 24 months, same as cash. They drew the entire $30k in March, long before the project started. Product delivered and installation commenced 5/1/23. Different installer showed up to do the work than the one who measured for the job. Said the door was the wrong size but he could “make it work”. They did the install with only two workers, after damaging my vinyl siding during removal of original windows and door. The trim around the windows inside and outside was unacceptable. They left their trailer in my driveway for two weeks. A second crew came out later in the summer to correct the job. They used long screws that protruded through the windows and prevented windows from opening or closing. The windows were not nailed into studs, and stuck out farther than the original windows did. After texting pictures to the project manager and the operations manager, I got no satisfaction until I had an industry expert look at the job and they recommended I call an attorney. Pella asked for a third chance to make it right, and I agreed to have yet a third company come straighten out the issues. They determined the windows were damaged and incorrectly installed. They ordered new windows and replaced them in November. They finished the project and after the operations manager came to see the project, he did not agree with me that they needed to repair or replace the siding that they used that does not match the original siding. So the house has two different colors of siding. I was going to put the house on the market Summer of 2023 but the project wasn’t finished until November. I would not recommend this company and feel sorry for customers who might accept subpar work not knowing any better."
"Shannon was our salesman. Very courteous and professional. We had French doors installed.Maykel Castellanos and his crew did a fantastic job on the installation I highly recommend them. Very professional, courteous and knowledgeable."
"Nick has been great to work with! Pella stands behind all their products and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs their products and services."
"This is one of our 20 Pella Architect classic series windows. Turns out, there have been class actions filed concerning various aluminum clad, wood sash Pella windows, for a defect in manufacturing, that allows moisture to get behind the aluminum cladding, and rot the wood. The homeowner will have no clue anything is wrong, until the window literally falls apart. [ google: Pella+Class Action] Pella has never made any effort to warn the owner's of their spectacularly defective windows of this issue; nor offered any advice on how to prevent it. They have written their warranty to exclude any coverage for this known issue. There is no warranty covering the crumbling wood and total failure of their window. The glass has warranty coverage, but the wood sash, that holds the glass, does not. It seems to me, Pella, knowing their windows fail so spectacularly, should do a recall; And if not a recall, at the very least, provide an expanded and extended warranty. Instead, they write their warranties in such a way as to exclude the inevitable rotted wood sash. So, I feel people need to know - Based on our experience - the windows may be very nice when newly purchased, but this company has no respect for them as customers, or pride and confidence in their products, and behaves accordingly. Adding: At Pella's request, (see below) I contacted them. Pella responded: //Your review mentions a settlement regarding your products. There has never been a class action or settlement related to any Architect Series windows. // To be clear, we own the Pella Architect Classic windows, and as far as I can tell, no case at all has yet been brought against this particular window. However. There is a case against their Architect series. Google: Pella+Architect+class action . I do not know if this case entered class action status, but it is mentioned that it might go that way. Now, search: Pella+Proline series+Class action. This class action had a 23.5 million settlement. The Proline windows are yet another Pella aluminum clad wood window, which allows water to penetrate and rot the wood. The point being, Pella has long been aware of this issue and the inevitable devastating failure of these windows; has done nothing to correct the issue, has done nothing to inform their customers of this issue, nor given any advice on avoiding it; AND, writes their warranties to exclude any coverage of this issue. AND, now has language in their warranty stipulating that the owners can not file a class action. The remaining portion of Pella's reply to me was simply confirming the lack of warranty coverage. So. Based on our experience, I suggest, when reading through the negative reviews, you see Pella commenting "please contact us," don't be fooled into thinking this is anything more than an effort to appear concerned. This is my opinion, based on the aforementioned law suites and our own crumbling, rotting windows."
