"Ok let's start with this is a hole in the wall through and through. It's off the beaten path, looks as back woods as I could imagine, and the equipment is very used. Now this is all great things if that's what you're looking for (I was). The staff is extremely friendly and nice, for fish sake they went out of their way to eliminate a black wasp that was scaring my daughter. As for the experience, best time I've spent down here on my vacation. 2 to 4 hours on a calm easy manageable kayaking trip up a swampy river with all manners of wildlife ( birds, frogs, turtles, and fish). Also has the states oldest tree in there. On the fish note, Asian Carp (they jump). I was hoping I'd see some jumping, I did. Slapped me square in the face, one of the best moments on the water! Oh yeah two down sides; one my daughter was a little bummed because she didn't get slapped by a fish. Two there are shallow spots that could but shouldn't deture you, the best is all right after them (mind you I went during a drought). All and all awesome time spent."
"Friendly, non- touristy vibes (which is awesome). Felt completely touch with nature. Fast service without making you feel you are attending college to kayak. Most beautiful scenery we could’ve ever imagined. Thanks for an affordable, beyond our expectations day in Southern IL! Family of 4. Mom, dad and 2 teens. No complaining the entire time on the river. Success!"
"Super beautiful area to kayak/canoe!! This is the most unique place that I have paddled in the entire Midwest. The area is not too large and can be explored in a few hours. Make sure to do this if you are ever in this part of the state. The rental service was super affordable and low-key."
"We had such a great time- the guide/owner was super accommodating, was very informative not only about the fauna & flora, but about the world importance of the cypress grove & wetlands surrounding them. It was an easy trip, some of us in canoe & others of us in kayaks.... slow, but fun adventuring and sights. We encountered no big problem with bugs when we were there, but sprayed up just in case."
"Very lowkey. I believe this is the first review. Honestly, I was sketched out by this being in the middle of nowhere, but my girlfriend convinced me to canoe with her. The result was telling all my friends about how cool it was and heading back down there with a group of people for a camping trip. I recommend it, The owner is very nice, I mean very, he went in after one of us dropped an iphone in the river and he tried to feel for it -- never found it but he was in the water before we even thought about asking him. The canoes are perfect, affordable and the views you cant find anywhere else. Enjoy the 2-3 hour getaway down the Cache river and make the most out of it."
