"Only OB who needs a referral to get an appt. What do you want my primary doc to say? That I'm female?"
"Dr. Butler and his nurse were very friendly. I was referred to him for urinary issues and after the initial appt I was scheduled for another appt for testing to be performed by his nurse. At the second appt I had testing that morning with just his nurse and an appt with Dr. Butler that afternoon to go over results. I ended up being diagnosed with a condition by his nurse, so of course I had several questions for Dr. Butler that afternoon. His surgery schedule ran behind, so he was almost an hour late for my appt. He answered my first couple questions and about 5 mins into the appt he started backing out of the room even as I was trying to get through the rest of my questions. His nurse ended up being the one to answer most of my questions after Dr. Butler completely left the room. Not to mention he asked me the same personal questions, made the same jokes, and told me the same thing he had told me at my initial appt as if he hadn’t remembered me in the slightest. I felt like a number. I was allotted 15 mins for my appt on my paperwork, and he barely gave me five. In addition, I was given very limited treatment options, first of which was an antidepressant (no talk of cons or side effects), another drug which long term use of could cause macular degeneration, and to completely change my diet to a very limited number of foods. I had to find my own resources for more information about the diet, the condition and other treatment options. It all did very little to put me at ease with a new diagnosis."
