Reviews of Hotel Indigo San Antonio-Riverwalk, an IHG Hotel
"Little hotel in a very quiet part of the river walk area. Outdoor area. Bar. Restaurant. Check-in took longer than expected but it was peak time and the gentleman at the desk was working hard to get through everyone. Room is a nice size with a comfy bed. Shower could have been cleaned more thoroughly. Keurig in my room broken. No big deal. There is coffee in the lobby. Upon walking in from putting my bags in the car I asked the lady at the front desk if she would like my keys back. “Sure, whatever”. I asked if the coffee in the lobby was ready yet. She said no. That is when I asked how I could get a cup of coffee since the one in my room is broken. Literally told me there is nothing she could do. Not a drink from the snack area. Not $5 off the bill. She literally did not care. IHG I expect more from you."
"Hands down the second worst hotel value I’ve ever experienced. Truly abysmal room quality and garbage amenities. Disgusting from lobby to room. Hairs on our pillow, no water bottles, cold showers, and dated rooms. For $195/night I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. The staff is very nice. They let us check in early but did claim that check in is at 4 when the website/confirmation clearly list 3pm. Edit: waking up on Sunday morning at 7 AM to the dumpster pickup outside is just *chefs kiss* Edit x2: would you believe I was awoken by the garbage pickup again on Monday? I don’t either, but here we are"
"The staff was extremely helpful. Veronica was able to switch my room at the last minute from a king to two double beds so a coworker who decided to attend the convention last minute could stay w me. Matthew made a special trip to deliver drinks for us when room service closed earlier than 10pm on a Friday night. Super friendly and accommodating! In regards to accommodations, it may be a bit older looking in some regard but it did not bother me. Soft bed and super clean!"
"Staff was extremely helpful and nice, good breakfast in the restaurant off the lobby. Room was good sized with very nice shower. They were doing some renovation of the lights in the hallways when we got there so it was a little bit comical but it was pretty dark going to our room. On our second to last day the electricity was off in our room for about a half hour in the morning. Location was very nice right on the river walk about a 10 minute stroll to the downtown area. Same for getting to the Alamo and other attractions. The front of the hotel and the parking area could be considered a little bit dicey at night. There's some homeless people around and it's not in the exact downtown area. Regardless, the hotel was nice and was easy to get back to from downtown even at night walking along the river which is on the backside of the hotel."
"I'm conflicted whether to recommend this hotel or not. It's a solid 3 star hotel, but worth looking at other options. We booked a King Bed Suite River View Balcony (Room 230) for an excellent award price and it was great for us. However, I don't think we would return nor would stay here in a standard room for cash price. The room we stayed in was huge and spacious, the bed comfortable and overall very clean. The two AC units worked fine for us, although loud we weren't bothered. The shower was good and had full doors that kept all the water in (which is extremely rare nowadays). Our room was quiet, because of the layout it wasn't directly next to the door and didn't get much noise, but I don't think that's true for the standard rooms. The view wasn't all that great and the balcony was tiny, barely large enough for two people to stand on. We enjoyed the location as it's right on the museum reach of the river and about 1.25 mile walk to the Pearl. If you're looking for the downtown reach of the river or the main touristy area this probably isn't for you. The customer service was hit or miss. Some people were extremely helpful and friendly, others not so much. No major complaints there. The hotel parking was full every day, as others have said. However, directly connected, but separated with a fence, is a private lot that's $25 for 24 hours. We found parking here every night even when returning at midnight on a Saturday. Others mentioned the area was "shady", we didn't get that feeling at all. Biggest complaint for us, the elevators. One was out of service our entire stay making the wait long. The other kept breaking and we were required to use the stairs. While an inconvenience for us, it could be major problem for others. The hotel staff also failed to put out of order signs on the elevators until our last day, so people would just be standing around waiting until another guest told them it was out of order."
