"I'm in the 8th grade graduating class is 2015-16 and I got a detention for eating a nurse-issued mint during my 4th hour science class by the schools Jr. High science teacher. This was our conversation: Teacher : "Are you chewing gum?" Me: "No....it's a mint." Teacher : "Spit it out." (As he says this I swallow it.) Me: "I swallowed it." He then shakes his head in disapproval and goes to his desk to write me a detention for eating a mint. On that detention the rule broken was "eating." Our teachers give out detentions even when no rule was broken. That is just plain wrong. But if there is a serious rule broken them detentions should be handed out. My friend got a detention by an aid named Mrs. Garza (a.k.a. Mrs. Plum) for joking around with our friends cousin at breakfast. Teachers should know when to give a detention and when not to give detention. Teachers wonder why scores go down, participation goes down and why grades go it's because they are taking that away from us-- by that I mean if we talk in class when the teachers in the hall or something like that then they wonder why we missed questions on a test; it's because they take the learning away from us. Also, I believe it's because teacher cross over the line between breaking rules and being a kid. Did they not used to joke around with their friends? Have they grown out of their memories of having fun...being a kid?"
"My son goes there"
