Reviews of Halsey Flats
"Updated: They don't charge an amenities fee. There was an unclear "Building and Facilities fee" that has nothing to be with amenities. They also called me and didn't leave a voicemail which is really weird to do. Support email replies are really speedy tho. Response times on anything have been really swift and I'd say it's a plus. I'd give it a 2.5/5 stars on that and if the pool can actually open this year I'll keep it a 3. Maintenance is fine. You'll get a response in about 24 hours. However you'll also get 1-2 emails every single month with some reason that someone HAS to enter your apartment TOMORROW. Sub 24-hr notice on these and it happens every single month with some different reason every time. There's no time window just "Maintenance WILL be in your apartment tomorrow for X. Make sure your pets are away etc etc". How are you supposed to make sure of ANYTHING with no real notice and no time window? The pool was closed almost the entirety of 2023. What a joke. They don't pay enough so they couldn't get a lifeguard until summer was over. The pool sat completely filled and EMPTY every single day. And then when they finally got a lifeguard it was open like 4ish hours a day for 3ish days a week. The internet is charged on your lease. You don't have a spectrum account. You talk to a third party that talks to spectrum. Heaven forbid you have an issue lol it's a mess. Any internet issues will be a multiple day issue if it doesn't fix itself. It's expensive $75 and you can't negotiate a price with Spectrum or find someone else. You HAVE to use their router and it just sucks. The connection to the bedroom is terrible and we have internet go out EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. Every night. The trash: $25 trash fee for this awful valet service. They DON'T take trash every day and DON'T always take it on the days they're supposed to. There is literal trash all over this complex. Everywhere. The dumpster is never NOT overflowing. The fines: They've been sending emails out saying they're going to be fining everyone $25 per trash bag and trash can that's outside WAITING TO BE TAKEN BY THE REQUIRED TRASH SERVICE. Valet doesn't get your trash? That's $25 can + $25 bag + $25 valet AND you still have trash. $100 fines for having a bike on the patio like what?? These aren't in the lease. They've just decided to start charging for these? The actual apartments: They are OKAY. Not good. Not great. Not awful. They are OKAY. I wouldn't even say fine. Just okay. I've had paper thicker than these walls you can hear every little thing everywhere. You can also tell that every wall was just painted over. It's to be expected really but it's worth mentioning. Verdict? You shouldn't live here. It's annoying as all hell to traverse the parking lot and it's gross to look at. The actual living experience is never better than bearable and the $$$ from fees and fines is just a joke. For the same you end up paying after all of the BS, you can live somewhere better. Not even going into Admin fees just to move in. The resident portal is really barebones and not at all helpful. 2.5/5 because it's not the worst."
"POTENTIAL RENTERS BEWARE, Halsey Flats will be charging you a 350.00 nonrefundable administrative fee along with a 50.00 application fee. This means that if you don't get the apartment you will still be out $400.00.I called and asked what the administration fee was for and the man told me it was to hold the apartment for you for 21 days. I asked him if I didn't want or need it held would I still have to pay and he said yes everyone does. So it makes me wonder how many times they have refused potential renters just to make free money from applicants. This is shady way to do business."
"Isabella is truly amazing. She cares about what you need and she goes above and beyond to make sure you get what you need. She is efficient, prominent, and helps you make the best decision possible. I would recommended living here and working with Isabella because she is one of the best!"
"Isabella in the leasing office was great, she was very attentive and knowledgeable. This was going to be my first apartment and I knew I wasn’t going to have something super nice. My expectations weren’t high but I had thought I was getting something decent since they are located in St. Matthews. My move in date was first pushed back a week due to carpet people running behind. They knew about my move in date for over 2 months. The model apartment looks NOTHING like what you will actually get. I moved in Monday of this week and abruptly had to end my lease due to rodent infestation and promises from the leasing agreement that weren’t held up on their end. They weren’t able to process my cashiers check, and kept asking for an alternative payment when a cashiers check is a verified payment due to my check being linked to another account that lives there which isn’t possible unless they inputted it to the wrong account. The apartment wasn’t clean, everything was painted over. The outside of the apartment is disgusting from the valet trash system. The inside apartment reaked of paint. There was so much rodent droppings on the floor and baseboards all throughout the kitchen and hallway that I couldn’t walk without stepping on the droppings. They put in a work order and “patched” the holes and crevices by spray foam insulation that they can EASILY chew through. The rodent droppings weren’t cleaned off the floor when they came to patch it and my cleaning supplies in the cabinet under the sink were placed on top of the droppings to cover it. There were rodent droppings in the cabinets, under the oven, behind the fridge, in the oven drawer, and all over the floor in the open. I had swept it into a pile of rodent droppings at one point. I wasn’t able to sleep/live there during this time. I called the leasing office on Thursday and told them they needed to give me my deposit back and my cashiers check they were never able to process and let me out of my lease. I got a call back from Elaine, the manager, same day and they didn’t put up a fight and let me out of my lease after only being there 4 days. I understand every apartment is bound to have rodents and bugs at one point but this was clearly and infestation that wasn’t going away anytime soon."
"I usually don’t have many problems with Halsey flats but when I do they are very attentive to my needs. The leasing agent Isabella Mendoza is also an exceptional leasing agent. Making the whole process not only seamless, but also quick and non problematic. She is not only friendly, but very insightful going above and beyond helping me with ideas for the layout of my house and general tips based on her prior knowledge. If you’re looking for a solid place to move and a fabulous leasing agent to help you do it look no further."
