Reviews of Sammy's House
"Sammy’s House has been the biggest unexpected blessing for our family! Our little one has been there for almost a year. All the teachers are amazing, attentive, and sweet. Sammy’s provides a safe, loving, and inclusive environment for all the sweet kiddos. We don’t know what we would do without Sammy’s! We 100% recommend them!"
"As a non-for-profit, the level of dedication and care amazes me. I can only use the word love because Sammy's House is not in it for the money. They offer other activities/services besides that daily child care. My children enjoy these events throughout the year."
"My son has been going to Sammy's House since he was 3 months old, and I can't say enough wonderful things about the quality of care he receives. The teachers are an extension of our family, and provide our little man with love, structure and socialization. We love Sammy's House and look forward to having our son grow there until he's ready to move into Kindergarten."
"A sinking ship for prospective parents and employees. From what I understand, this place was founded on and earned a reputation for its dedication to special needs children regardless of ability to pay. Unfortunately, this is not the same institution that earned those accolades. The agency has been struggling to reinvent itself in the midst of the changes that Covid and a shortage of minimum wage workers have wrought. This and the fact that the director has fired at least 5 employees in one summer lead to constant understaffing issues that hurt the remaining staff and most of all the children. The children are crowded in classrooms above the claimed teacher-student ratio, and get less attention and care as a result. Teachers are untrained in an effort to put adult bodies in a room, as well as not given time to plan schedules or create curriculum, so children are bored and learning very little. The classrooms are disorganized and unclean, in one case there is no running water in a classroom expected to provide diaper changes and potty training, and other rooms have strange smells that resemble mold and mildew. The lack of time due to the understaffing means that the staff is forced to cut corners when cleaning and children are often playing on surfaces where food waste and human waste have barely been wiped away. It saddens me that a place that has so much potential to serve special needs families is facing so many problems. This agency needs more accountability and needs to be honest about the problems it is facing so that they can be solved rather than struggling to stay afloat at the expense of the families they serve."
"This group was on a field trip to a local outdoor amusement park today. I was completely shocked at how well the staff looked over the children. They were so polite and positive to all of the children. and the children were supervised and obviously well cared for. This is the first time I have ever witnessed a group/school of children with staff that has this level kindness, attentiveness and compassion. I have no connections to this place whatsoever I just felt like someone needed to know what an amazing job the staff did today!"
