Reviews of Big Bear Resort Inc
"Campground Needs some TLC. Gravel Road washed out. Thought we going to tip camper over trying to miss gulleys. Grass high around banks and fire pit. Not much gravel on your spot. Picnic table very old and warped. Lake scenery beautiful but weeds and other. Hit and miss mowing with high clippings laying brown on ground from waiting too long in between mows. Beach needed TLC. Very unkept and weedy. Sand then steps to rocky edges to lake. You are not in sand at lake water but on rocks. This was why we picked to have a beach since we wasnt going to Florida. Neighbors loud on UTV first night until after midnight. Sunday morning at 6 am sawing and hammering across the road. We all couldnt sit outside for mosquitos and these other bugs. Never experienced this many bites. Exit needs dip smoothed out. Bathhouse...needs new fixtures and deep cleaning. Pool had bugs floating. Pool bathrooms...mens no light. Ladies bugs and unclean. Bath Shower 2 the best and spent time to get temp to use. Not heated or cooled so it smelled as well. Camper Hookups old and rusty. Needed sweeping and weeding around pool. This cost me $218 for 2 spots fir a late Friday to Sunday morning. I have stayed at KOAs for much less and had luxury spots with tv and internet compared to this. If cheaper maybe that would be an offset but charges plus extra fees that owner applied to book with them is not so good. That why u call book direct. At one time i am sure this was a go to spot. And could be again. No money being put back into campground to make it nice again. Live there campers areas are kept up. You can look and see rentals due to being unkept. Cottages looked bad too as u past to campground. We work hard for our money and this was a waste compared to other campgrounds. All we have been to and this by far is at the bottom unfortunately. Website pics not actual. Hate to be negative but being truthful sometimes hurts."
"We stayed in site 14 this past weekend. It was completely grass that had just been mowed. It was clumped up and no trimming around anything done. Luckily we had a rv mat that helped to keep some of the grass out of the rv. I had to take scissors to trim the grass around the fire pit to even find it. The roads were in need of repair. The gravel was sparse and several washed out areas in the roads that you needed to maneuver around. The view was nice but for the price paid I would have thought it would have been up-kept better. The pictures on the website are not current to reflect what it actually looks like today. It could be a nice place with a few attentions to details."
"We stayed in a condo/townhouse on Airbnb which was really nice! Probably would have been cheaper to book directly through the resort. Not sure what the inside of the other cabins or places looked like. The ladies in the marina were really nice and everyone we talked to was very friendly! The amenities were alright but could definitely use some TLC. You can tell the resort is running down. The "beach" unfortunately had a lot of weeds over growing and smelled really bad as there were 3 or 4 very large dead fish that washed up. There are steps from the sand to the lake which is mostly rocks. Helps to wear water shoes/Crocs on the beach if you plan on swimming. Would give 4 stars if the beach was cleaned up and didn't smell of dead fish. Otherwise the pool was great and our family and kids really enjoyed our stay!"
"First time going to this resort, and will unfortunately be our last. Not the worst campground, but far from the best. Very rundown. They do not put the money back into the resort. SO many things need updated. They have terrible gravel roads. The pool was really dirty. We cleaned the mayflies out of it ourselves. Trash was all over the pool area. Bathrooms were filthy. Most spots are filled with permanent campers. Marina was good. Ladies that worked this weekend were pleasant. Lake is beautiful. Would definitely suggest the lake, just will stay at a different resort next time. The amount of money you pay for a night is extremely high for this campground!!!"
"Positives - It's quiet because the only people there are the more permanent residents. The grass is mowed around the resort. Negatives - We were in one of the townhouses. It smelled as soon as the door opened. Most of the dishes had food residue still on them along with the utensils and silverware. All the carpet is well worn. The bedroom downstairs has a terrible odor. All the mattresses are hard. All the bedding is old and looks like from the 70s. Two showers only one shower curtain. Don't expect many towels. The refrigerator has rust. Besides plates don't expect to find many kitchen items, mostly empty cabinets. No paper towels are provided. All the decking is well worn. You can only fish in certain spots. After one night, we left. They don't provide refunds. I can see in those that posted the concerns are constant. The owner response is constant of please let us know. I am not sure that letting you know changes any concerns. I understand that it takes money to make changes. If you want your resort to have guests, you may want to address visitor concerns."
