Reviews of Compass Counseling and Psychological Services
"Worst company ever they bill your insurance wrong and then try to blame you! And when you wanna talk to someone everyone is magically busy. The office manager is very unprofessional and gets upset super easy so be careful because she just starts yelling with an attitude. Not really someone who runs a mental health clinic should be doing. Update 2/24/2023 After talking with my insurance and legal team this company has been repaid several times and still sent me to collections. They also refuse to give any information needed to hold them responsible for the damage they caused. Update: 6/26/2023 I have received proof from the insurance company that the office has been paid. However, the office manager Amy has sent me to collections saying she had not received her payment and refuses to call me back and her office as well does not call back. Be very careful with this place, I have currently disputed the collections with the credit bureaus, and I am about to seek legal counsel"
"I have been seeing Dr. Gilbert at this location for 6 years now, basically every week to two weeks with some breaks here and there. I am always recommending this office to everyone because my time there has made such a positive impact on my life. Dr. Gilbert is very kind and listens to me thoroughly before giving guidance; however, he never tells me what I “should” do. Rather, he helps guide me through my thoughts and feelings to gather my own solutions. He is always very sensitive to my needs and shows a lot of empathy, but remains professional and helpful in the best way to help keep me on track and objective when needed. He really has helped me navigate through some really tough trauma in my life and provided me with the tools to come out stronger on the other side. Nick at the front desk is an absolute treasure. I know he has to see hundreds of people come in and out of that clinic, but he always recognizes and calls me by name, and is just so friendly and polite and helpful. When I’m coming in to work through some tough topics, just the small gesture of him knowing who I am makes me feel welcome and a little bit more comfortable. Scheduling is very easy, and the staff have always worked with me on making sure I have clarity on the cost when I’ve gotten new insurance. They worked with me on paying off a balance I owed as well. The office is very clean and very quiet with plenty of open parking. It’s easy to find. They have gender neutral bathrooms. All in all, it’s a very welcoming environment and I love the staff I have worked with. I will keep recommending it."
"Compass Counseling has provided seamless support to my entire family for the last several years. I have been seeing Dr. Langley personally for a few years now and am so grateful to have found such a great match for therapy. They offer a variety of service specialties and two of my children have also been evaluated and had therapy at Compass over the years. All of the staff is very discreet, professional and respectful. Appointments always run on time and scheduling is a breeze. I wish everyone had such great access to mental health wellness!"
"Tara Frem is polite for the most part, however this office, or at least this provider, is not used to/equipped for evaluation of adults. A lot of my evaluation was dependent on my childhood experiences and I felt as if very little of my adult learning was taken into account. My provider even stated that the tests that were administered we're designed for children. I had prepared research I had done myself, this was never asked for and when I provided it myself, it was as if this was a hassle for my provider and counted against me. I was still treated as a child by my provider when my parent gave their own history report. And while I was assured several times that this office was LGBTQ+ friendly, I was misgendered several times in my evaluation report. I know that these evaluations are covered by insurance based on time increments, however my provider put so much emphasis on how much time was remaining, it felt as if that was all that mattered, even though she was unprepared for a few different tests on multiple occasions. An overall upsetting and unproductive experience. EDIT: over a year later and I am being billed and threatened with collections after no contact from the office for collection attempts. The only times I e heard from the office since my extremely dissatisfactory services, was for them to issue me a refund, and then 6 months later to then try to collect over $500 from me. When I called asking for itemized statements and corresponding EOBs, I was told the office manager would contact me within 24 hours. That was 3 months ago and I have heard nothing, and I am now being threatened with collections in the thousands. This office cannot train their staff, get an accurate estimate for benefits or out of pocket services, and has terrible patient care. The level of incompetence professionally is staggering."
"My experience at Compass Counseling has been phenomenal. I have been a patient there for over 6 years off and on. Dr. Greenamyer is amazing and has truly helped me during post-partum mental health journey. Her staff, Nick particularly, is wonderful and easy to deal with. He is sensitive to patient needs and even on my toughest days in office knew how to maneuver around check-ins and payment collections without making me ever feel uncomfortable. The office has worked with me through multiple insurance billing difficulties. Honestly, this is the ONLY place I recommend when anyone asks for suggestions on providers in this specialty. They truly do go above and beyond for their patients and genuinely care."
