"Before seeing the doc for my first visit, I was told they would verify my ins. to make sure I was in network. So after my 1st consultation with the doc. he said he could remove some moles on my neck, and 4 skin tags under my underarm/armpit on my next visit. So when I got there the assistance was looking at my chart, and didn't see what I was there for. I let her know, and I ask to make sure my ins. pays for those things. she said they wouldn't know that's up to me to check, so after she left the room I called my ins. and they showed they were in network, and they will pay 90%, and I pay the remaining 10% to have tose things removed. So the doc came in looked over everything, and gave me a gown and said they will get me ready to take care of those things. the assistant came back to get prepared, and said "they do not bill ins. for skin tags so I would need to pay out of pocket $50 each" I let her know I just called my insurance. and what my ins. said. she said they've had too many ins. co. that will not pay for skintag removal because it's considered cosmetic so they don't even submit them. I told her my ins. just confirmed they would. so she said it's not from them but from the billing department. so I got dressed, after her still thinking I would want to proceed, and told her that's okay. I'll find another doc to take care of all my concerns. The doc was very nice, but the assistance gave me the impression she didn't want to work. I guess they have enough clients for their service. If my ins. Paid it would be $20 out of pocket versus $200 to remove the skin tags. What does this really sound like?"
"I was excited about switching to a dermatologist closer to home. Unfortunately, this just isn't the place for me. I recieved no updates or follow through for months after my appt despite multiple calls to them so I contacted billing to dispute the charge. Everyone has been unprofessional and/or rude. I'm blown away at how I was just treated by this doctor on the phone."
"Great Doctor and staff. Very kind and caring atmosphere. Great experiences and excellent care. Whole family is a patient and referred many of my relatives. Thankful Dr. Smith has practice so close to home."
"Dr Smith is wonderful, but the office practices are not. The Mt Washington office is only open on Tues, so if you have a question, you have to call on Tues-the other offices can't help you, since the charts are all on paper. His nurse won't send info anywhere (prescriptions to Kroger, info to your Dr, blood work, etc). You have to take it there yourself. So I have to wait 30 min to drop the prescription off, then wait in line again to pick it up. I finally asked them to fax the orders to my online pharmacy. That was a mistake. I never got the medication I requested (after 6 calls to them), but I did receive meds I never asked for or know anything about. When my blood test results needed to be sent to my GP, whose office is literally next door, they had to mail me the results, and I then had to get them to my GP. They make it difficult to do business with them, so I'm switching dermatologists. I think Dr Smith would be better if he joined an office with already established practices, because his aren't working."
"Unfortunately I have to write a negative review. I called this office and asked if they accepted Aetna Better Health of KY insurance, I was told yes, went to the visit, the insurance card was scanned and the appointment went as scheduled, the Doctor was nice as well as the assistant who took my insurance/information. It wasn't until I had the RX filled that the pharm informed me that the doctor doesn't participate in the Medicaid Insurance plan and the RX would NOT be covered, and once I called the office to straighten this out I was then told they don't accept my insurance. When I called the office and informed them, I was apologized to and was told they were very busy and more attention should have been paid to the insurance type. I was told to wait for a bill which arrived later and was 250.00 dollars, that's after them taking 50.00 off for the mix-up, and then I was told to call billing dept to see if there was something more that could be done. They removed an additional 50.00. However, my Insurance covers what is aggreged and I'm not suppose to be billed a remaining amount in normal circumstances. If I had known the Dr. office did not take my insurance I would NOT have went in the first place. Honestly I should have made it clear it was Medicaid, but I read the title of the insurance straight from the card, "Aetna Better Health of KY" and although, everyone was polite, this mix-up is costing me money I don't have, and it's just upsetting that this could have been preventing and I wouldn't have to write a negative review. I admit it was some fault to both parties (myself and them,) but when you visit a practice you expect a level of competency that would catch such errors, and prevent them. I'm sorry for writing a negative review, but thought others should be aware if a similar situation is to occur again."
