Reviews of Houston County Community Hospital
"I don't advise coming to this joke of an ER. 5 1/2 hours of waiting all for nothing. 3 people showed up after us and left before us at least by 2 hours. Doctor is a clown as well."
"My husband received fast and efficient care here. The admin lady was friendly. The nurses are friendly. Every woman we talked to was kind. Thank you for taking care of my husband."
"My wife, who is an active duty soldier stationed at Campbell, went in with abdominal pain and nausea following what her OB said was an ovarian cyst rupture. She has had issues with cysts for over a year and been told repeatedly to go to the ER if she had pain combined with nausea. She went to this ER because it was a shorter drive than Campbell and she didn’t have a ride there since I was out of town. Dr. Robert Winston couldn’t hear her so he had her speak so loud she was describing her symptoms so the whole ER could hear in violation of her privacy and HIPAA. She was left in pain for four hours in tears before they even gave her pain meds or nausea meds. Dr Winston told her that it was just her cycle despite being told of her medical history of endometriosis and ovarian cysts, and despite knowing that she was on oral contraceptives and doesn’t have a cycle with it. He was dismissive of her complaints and her knowledge of her medical history. He checked every other patient regularly but not my wife. When I called to speak with the doctor I got a nurse instead who dismissed my concerns, insisted that they had treated her, and was very disrespectful to both myself and my wife. She also spoke so loudly on the phone with me that the entire ER could hear violation of HIPAA. We are consulting with an attorney to see our options, but I would not recommend this hospital or ER without major changes from the administrative staff. If you’re having issues go to Dickson or Clarksville. It’s a longer ride, but you’ll definitely have better care."
"This happened in 2022, but I keep seeing them show up on my social media. Do not bring yourself here, your kids here, I’m pretty sure if you’re on the brink of death, they would send you somewhere else. But, I wish, I had gotten here name. I hope she doesn’t work there anymore. But, when my daughter was a newborn, she’s 1.5 now. She had been at her provider that morning for running a fever of 101.4, their provider told me, if given Tylenol and it doesnt go down, to go to the emergency room, later that night. My daughter ran 101.5 and we went. We get there and she has this handheld cheap thermometer that didn’t even want to turn on, not the ones they usually use. It read 97, and she said she isn’t a fever. I showed her my temp, where I took the temp Rectally, the way it should’ve been checked. Which they never checked it again that night and did no further vitals. But the front desk lady said there someone coming in via ambulance that it was more important, but they actually sent him to a different hospital because they couldn’t handle it. I proceed to start the check in for my daughter. She takes her social security card, insurance card, and she proceeds to say, you’re just a new scared mom, you don’t know what’s considered an emergency, that I’m just exposing her to more germs. Then she asks how her name is spelt, and I proceeded to tell her, and she said typing, that children like this, will forever hate their parents for how their name is spelt to make their life difficult. Which her name is Andeigh with two middle names. I proceeded to tell her as I’m snatching the cards back, she’s named after her dead grandfather and her two strong grandmothers. I start to cry because this lady is making me feel so stupid and like I’m a terrible mother for bringing her out. She realizes she over stepped and began telling me. That I’m overwhelmed. Which yes, I am, I have a newborn and 3 year old. She told me it’s the lack of help I have that’s making feel this way. She offers to watch my kids. I’m just crying because she just over stepped. The doctor came in, didn’t check her temperature, no one weighed her, checked vitals did nothing. We had also been here before with my other daughter, who was diagnosed with asthma. And I had taken her there because she was wheezing, contracting alll the bad stuff, we take her there and 02 levels were lower then it should’ve, and while we sit back there for 45 minutes, before anyone comes to us, ask us her albuterol dose and never comes back to give it her. I’m extremely mad at this point and the doctor just told us to go home and use her breathing treatment. We go back to her provider and tells us we should’ve went to the ER the night before, I told her we did and they did nothing. She was given 2 breathing treatments and steroids there and was put on them and to check back the next day. I was told I should reported whomever was there. I should have. I have been there and had an amazing doctor before, he was older gray hair with glasses, he did an amazing job with my oldest when she had burned her hand putting her hand on the stove top, and didn’t make me feel bad for it. Told me it happens more than you think it does. Extremely sweet."
"I should not be having to tell my neighbors who haven’t even lived in Houston county a full year yet, that they should go to Dickson or Clarksville ER for an emergency. I had to tell them to go elsewhere and not here because the night before last, I took my cousin to our ER thinking it was going to be better since Braden Health purchased it, but it took nearly 5 HOURS to get 8 stitches out in his leg. He came in with a deep open wound, and was not even taken back for 4&1/2 hours, and his vitals weren’t even taken for 3&1/2 hours, nor was he even allowed to register until then. This NEEDS to be fixed, or they might as well just tear down the hospital and make it into a rapid ER so that way those who need to go to an er will actually be seen within a reasonable time for an emergency."
