"We were there today visiting my dad. He complained last night about it taking forever for a nurse to help him off the bed pan. Today I tried to get him ice n the nurses would not acknowledge me when I went to the nurse desk. I had to go to a different section n ask for ice. When leaving we were confused about how to get out...one nurse at the desk completely ignored me. So we asked a nurse getting on the elevator for directions. Most dont know how to get around the hospital. We got the most help from the security guard n the most respect from him. This is not how I thought this rehab hospital would be. I heard it was the best. It's not. It can't be."
"I've always thought a lot of Cardinal Hill, until recently. I hesitate to say this but I'm going to for anyone thinking of working there. Their Admins have literally fired one of the best employees that has ever walked in their doors. Never had a write up, worked weekends if needed, loyal, dependable and truly loved and was proud of their place of employment. They worked over 20 years and one day they begin their work day only to be fired. I won't mention names because it is absolutely ridiculous what they were fired for. Anyone that knows them would know that the accusations made against the former employee are absolutely absurd. Just because you're trying to save a dollar doesn't make it right to crush someone for your benefit."
"Most of the night nurses and even the supervisor that was here is disrespectful and rude. They do not care if your loved ones press the call button, need food, need to go to the bathroom, nothing at all. IF YOURE GOING TO TREAT PEOPLE LIKE THIS, FIND A NEW CAREER CHOICE. I will say the day nurses are all wonderful and kind. If you’re concerned about the rude night nurses I would recommend Janette and Marie, they are great. (Stroke unit)"
"We left Cardinal Hill 12/8 My husband had a bad fall in which he broke his elbow and patella. He is also a person with Parkinson’s. This stay was his second in two years. I also was at CH several years ago. I am a big fan of Cardinal Hill. This time I was satisfied with his care with the exception of his discharge planning. He was referred to Mayfair Manor which is a mediocre for-profit organization owned by Signature. Although there were some good things with the facility, I was disappointed at the overall atmosphere. We stayed 10 days. Cardinal Hill, make sure you know what the quality of the facility is before you refer your patients"
"My father suffered a stroke leaving him paralyzed on on his left side prior to being admitted to Cardinal Hill. Within a matter of a month, he was walking with assistance and talking like his old self again! He praised Ruth Ann (PT) and Katie (I believe she was OT). There were a couple instances where his soiled laundry was being placed in his wardrobe with his clean clothes… but this was fixed. The nurses were kind and patient. He got to choose his own meals and received three hours a day of PT, OT, and Speech. His case manager Christina was very helpful in finding him placement post Cardinal Hill. I cannot praise this facility enough!"
