Guard and Grace

"Only being in Houston for one day, I wanted to dine somewhere that would leave a lasting impression on my tastebuds. Guard and Grace did exactly that. I have to say our server Rob made our experience memorable. His knowledge of the menu and expertise on wine made our decision on what to order much easier. As an appetizer we ordered half a dozen oysters and the duck confit. The oysters were presented nicely, but very comparable to oysters you would get almost anywhere else. The duck confit on the other hand was an amazing dish. Something I would recommend getting and will order next time I dine with G+G. For the main course I ordered the Porterhouse, 42 oz of grade A meat. It was beautifully presented (see picture below) and cooked to perfection. The sides are large enough to share so we ordered the chipotle lime smashed potatoes and asparagus. The smashed potatoes were crispy and seasoned perfectly. They were so good, I could have ate the whole plate by myself. The asparagus was good, but similar to the oysters it is comparable to most other steakhouses. Now let’s talk about dessert.. we couldn’t decide on what to pick so we ordered THREE desserts. The Apple cinnamon bread pudding, cheesecake, & chocolate cake. I am a huge fan of bread pudding so that’s what I was most excited for, but I have to say it was underwhelming. The chocolate cake had great consistency and flavor, but the cheesecake is what really wowed me. It is made with a decent amount of goat cheese which didn’t sound appealing to me, but if my taste buds were wearing socks it would have knocked them right off. I’ve had a lot of different cheesecakes, but this one takes the cake. Best I’ve ever had. Overall I would recommend visiting Guard & Grace. The atmosphere was modern and appealing. Food was unique and delicious. The service was exceptional (s/o Rob). Thank you for an amazing dining experience and we will definitely be back!"

"Since October, I have been back to Guard and Grace several times for dinner, and happy hour and each visit has been more amazing than the last. I was there Thursday night for a dinner event that featured a guest chef along with the amazing team that creates delectable food and amazing ambiance every time I visit. I had the pleasure of learning from executive chef Adam about some of the dishes of the evening, sommolier Matthew gave us a fantastic wine recommendation that paired excellently with every course, and I was treated like a queen with impeccable service from Sofiane.
