"I hated to give 3 stars because the provider and nurse were both GREAT! The receptionist however was NOT. She was cordial with me but as I was completing the paperwork, an elderly woman walked in for her scheduled appointment. She didn’t have her Medicare insurance card and the receptionist refused to see her and insisted she reschedule her appointment. The lady kept repeating that she had not had an insurance card in over 20 years and it’s never been an issue with any other providers. The receptionist made her leave the office without being seen! Being a NP myself, I know you can quickly look up someone’s Medicare insurance (any insurance in fact). After the lady left, the receptionist turned to her co-worker and said “her providers must look up her insurance every time and I’m not taking the time to do that and then started a conversation with her co-worker about food and recipes. All the while they had “Joy to the World” playing in the office and I was the only patient in there (she was obviously busy)! I was so shocked (I’m a drug/alcohol addiction detox NP so not many things shock me) that someone could be so insensitive to others, especially the elderly. WE as the human race have to do better!"
