Texas Children's Hospital The Woodlands - Outpatient Services

"I am disgusted with the Texas Children's Ortho office after my experience there today. My daughter fell off our bed and broke her collarbone about 6 weeks ago. We took her to urgent care, got an X-ray, and followed up w ortho when we realized it was broken. Fast forward to this week, my daughter was reaching for my mother in law when she woke up from a nap and fell out of her crib. Since she had a 6 week follow up w x-rays appointment after the initial incident, I let the Tx Children's ortho office know what happened and figured I should get her 6 week x rays done a couple days early just to rule out if anything happened when she fell out of her crib. It was just an extra precaution I took as she has been acting fine. We got to our appointment today, did her X-rays and then waited to see PA Melisa Moncure. Melisa let me know that the office would have to call a SOCIAL WORKER as there were 2 instances w my baby. We looked at the X-rays they took today (they ONLY took an X-ray of her left clavicle... the first X-rays I brought in were of her whole chest area) and Melisa told me they would have to take ANOTHER X-ray same day which I did not want. I told her I did not want my baby having 2 X-rays in the same day (I told them she fell out of the crib at my appointment so why would they only X-ray one part of her? This was not her follow up appointment, it was an appointment made bc she fell out of her crib)... Melisa then told me, it would not be my choice. They would take another X-ray legally and against my will!! After our appointment was over they escorted me to a back room where I waited for an additional 30 mins for the social worker to show up (why would they schedule my appointment before the social worker got there for the day if they knew beforehand I would have to speak w the social worker?) ...during this 30 mins, I had to change my baby's diaper so I took her to the bathroom a few feet away and 3 mins later when I opened the door to the bathroom there was a nurse searching for me with a POLICE OFFICER making sure I was going back to where my baby and I were being detained against our will. The social worker came and literally asked me if I could afford food for my 95th percentile in weight baby and if I could pay my mortgage on my home. Then allowed us to finally leave. Change your office policies, Texas Childrens. Don't take X-rays of one part of the body then tell the parent you will legally have to take more X-rays bc you didn't X-ray the right part the first time. Don't schedule someone who you're going to later corner and make wait in a back room for 30 mins for a social worker to come talk to them after they are already upset about their baby after having an incident. Shame on you. But they happily collected the $223 dollars PRE appointment from me."

"Do NOT USE THIS HOSPITAL SYSTEM!!! they do not bill your insurance for the standard copay. We went to see the hand specialist and were charged a fee for the room and equipment. There are much better options one street away that will only cost what is justified, your copay!! I went to the woodlands sports medicine center and paid only my copay and got far better and same day care. Steer clear of Texas Children’s if you want an honest level of care. This hospital system is absolutely awful. I’m never returning. You’re NOT sorry about this matter, and that number you provided sends you on a wild goose chase with zero solutions."

"They don't deserve 1 star. Took my son in to get 8 stitches removed from his big toe after his pediatrician recommended us come here because they had sedation capabilities that they didn't for the severity of the removal. Texas children lied about sedation all the way until it was time to remove. The triage nurse and intake nurse explained methods available and the doctor would tell me which is recommended. Before the doctor even looked at the stitches, she commented" I don't know about all this sedation stuff. "Huh?!? That's the whole point we are here!! The nurse said we should at least numb his toe. The idiot doctor going to say o yeah that's a good idea. Then said she would give a aspirator to relax. She didn't do that either . By is this 4 hour wait time my son is asleep, so they didn't bother with nothing. That was the perfect time to apply laughing gas or something. I knew as soon as I put him on the bed he would wake, and he did. Now imagine myself, 2 nurses and the doctor holding him down while screaming taking 8 stitches out of a big toe that was nearly lost and digging in skin, scabs and a wound to get stitches out while being awake and in pain. Then they needed assistance so they blew bubbles randomly waiting on assistance. He didn't care about no bubbles, how crazy. Just drawing out a already painful procedure. MY SON IS 2! The doctor apologized after she saw tears streaming down my face. I just had to get out of there before I went off on everyone."

"My review is for Dr. Le! He performed inguinal hernia surgery on my 10 month old son and made our experience as pleasant as possible. We had a virtual call where he explained the procedure, the risks, and answered all of our questions. I had more questions and he was quick to respond through my chart. The day of the surgery he checked in with us prior to the surgery and immediately after the procedure he came and let us know everything went great! Any medical procedure your child undertakes is extremely stressful and worrisome for a parent. We are very appreciative for Dr. Le and his understanding of that!"

"My two month year old was transferred here from Willowbrook ER and the staff here is amazing. Our nurse Denise was the sweetest and super professional. She was extremely knowledgeable and had so much information to give to us as we waited for test results. She was beyond helpful. Doctor Chacko was professional and accurate with his diagnoses. We’re so lucky to had such great people to assist our baby ."
