Reviews of The Atonement Academy
"This is a wonderful school with teachers, coaches and staff who go out of their way to teach and mentor the students. My son was always in public school and his first term here was a nightmare for him due to the faster pace than public school. He is no catching on and I'm seeing improvement in his grades. His attitude and outlook has massively improved due to the awesome coaching and teaching assistance he's getting from the personal one-to-one communication. The teachers will also notify you if there is any issue with learning materials or work not being turned in as it should. I highly recommend. My son's college is already paid for, but I wanted him here for the environment and the push for better grades and it is working. Remember, folks, Christ was a carpenter not a rocket scientist. If you're enrolling your child from public school there could possibly be an adjustment period of the pace of learning. I don't find any of the students to any more genius than public, but i do find they are on top of the required studies and move at a faster pace due to many are already used to the structure and rules that come with a private Catholic school. It is worth every cent in tuition just for the mentorship, guidance and daily mass for my son. Great job, Atonement Academy!"
"In my experience at The Atonement Academy it’s been a wild ride i’ll just say that. I am going on my 7th year at the school and have been through its ups and downs. While in lower school I loved all my teachers. All of them were and still are very kind and helpful whenever a student needs help with something. The middle school teachers were also incredibly amazing when it came to teaching and making class fun but also teaching in a very structured manner. While some may argue that classes are boring or lack proper teaching, to kids most classes are boring all across the world but i find that Atonement’s way of teaching has altered and grown. As i am a current freshman at the school classes have been made better in the way that the teachers try to make classes more fun or put aside time to answer questions so students really get a better education. For some teachers, we go outside to have a reading day or go to our school piazza to have class which makes the class “more fun” if you will. Other teachers like to do in class activities or group projects which both entertains the students while also educating them on the lesson at hand. As for the way of teaching, the material and subjects themselves are for the most part quite simple to understand. Yet, some advanced classes are more difficult. The teachers do a phenomenal job at challenging their students while at the same time knowing each of their limits. None of the teachers are rude or purposely try to embarrass their students while asking questions; instead help the students to find the correct answer. The teachers make sure everyone understands a portion of material before moving on which i really love. I can tell that each teacher wants their students to strive in excellence and want what is best for them which is what makes Atonement such a special school. There have been lots of reviews about bullying in the past and as a current student i feel the urgency to address the his issue. The school is very close and so when the mention of bullying comes up, the news spreads quickly. As of right now i can speak for most of upper school and middle school that there is no bullying and that from what i have seen, no one is alone throughout the school day; meaning everyone has at least one friend. I unfortunately cannot speak on behalf of lower school however many of the children seem very friendly and sweet with others. Most if not all the students at The Atonement Academy know that bullying is not right and know how to treat others including adults with respect and kindness. In addition, The Atonement Academy successfully prepares their students for the future. Whether it is offering programs such as UTSA’s Volcker Biomedical Research Program for future medical personnel or auditioning willing students to the TPSMEA State Choir, Atonement gives multiple opportunities to their students which are very helpful in preparation of their students. The Atonement Academy Athletics Programs are increasing in success every season with a variety of different sports to choose from. The Women’s Varsity Volleyball team has gone to the State Championships twice in the past two years and has been a great success each time. If i am correct the Men’s Middle school soccer team won City Finals this year. The coaches for each sport are all very kind and very successful in teaching the athletes to be the best they can be. One factor that stands out to me about the coaches is they do not mainly care if they win but also care that their athletes have fun while preforming. There are many other factors about The Atonement Academy i could go on explaining, however i think my review should come to an end. Overall, The Atonement Catholic Academy is worth visiting and i would highly recommend sending your child here."
"The Atonement Academy is a wonderful school that teaches a classical curriculum and virtue. As a volunteer, I could experience that the teachers were very careful to help the students at different levels. For those that already learned the subject, the teacher encourages more activities, like reading other books. For the children that are still learning, the teachers promote more opportunities and activities, always with a lot of love and care. This year has been hard for everyone, but the Atonement Academy was a wonderful place to have my kids. For those that preferred to attend only virtually, there was that option too. I think the teachers and administration, and the kids, were beyond expectation dealing with learning during a pandemic. If you want a wonderful learning environment and care about religious foundation for your kids, visit this school. I highly recommend it!"
"Best investment we ever made! If you want your child to grow and mature in a truly Catholic environment, Atonement Academy is it. Incredible Choir program and curriculum."
"My child has attended the lower school at the Atonement Academy for many years. I am constantly impressed by the curriculum and the quality of education that she receives. The academic showcases always demonstrate the advanced level of the students and the musical performances are astounding and magical. When I look at what my child has learned at such an early age and when I see the skills that she has attained, I know that being part of the Atonement Academy has been a very positive educational experience. The teachers at the Atonement challenge the students and keep them interested in the daily lessons. The students are well behaved and attentive. The morning masses are inspirational and set the tone for the day. The music and Latin classes are core to the overall learning experience and intellectual development. Recess provides the needed balance for the students to stay focused and alert throughout the day. I wholeheartedly recommend the Atonement Academy for anyone interested in a quality education that integrates music, art, and Latin with reading, writing, and arithmetic."
