Reviews of Little Country Daycare & Preschool
"My 6, now 7 children, have been attending this daycare for over 2 years. Director didn't try to hide the incident that happened shortly before we enrolled and answered the questions I had. Since then, we have had nothing short of a great experience here!"
"Extremely disappointing that with the recent news story and video of a staff member abusing a small child, the school couldn’t take the time to answer questions or say anything to the parents who’s children are currently enrolled. Instead they chose to say absolutely nothing and close their doors, only temporarily. These were people we trusted with our child. This only solidifies everything the news is saying about this establishment, which is terrifying and makes it exponentially more difficult for us to ever trust anyone with him again."
"My son goes here and we really appreciate the people who work there and he really enjoys himself. My son is very active and had a rough start going there (he was hitting a lot etc) and they really worked with me getting him to learn to use his words better etc. He always eats good, has fun, and learns a lot. Plus they get professional photos taken almost monthly that are affordable, which I think is amazing. My son is 4 for reference and is in the pre-k class but since he’s about to be in school they let him play with the big kids sometimes, which is cool to integrate him with school aged kids to prepare him for him starting kindergarten this year. All and all I think everyone there has made sure the kids are safe, loved, and well taken care of."
"A mother called the daycare regarding scratches on her childs face, this daycare told her he's doing it to himself and invited the mom to see the security cameras. It CLEARLY shows a worker pinning down a child and slapping him repeatedly and another clip of the workers trying to forcefully restrain the child. This place is lucky its still standing! See the video online or on Facebook."
"My girls (5 and 2 years old) attended LCDC for 4 weeks. We have just moved to Haslet. My daughters' father -my ex-husband- has disappeared from their lives the past year. My 5 year old is taking that very hard and has started having behavior problems. They kicked my daughter out for "smacking her teacher in front of a parent" which I was told made the daycare look bad. I am NOT a parent that thinks her child is a saint and can do no wrong, I usually have the teachers' backs and follow up with punishments at home for bad behavior at daycare. My issue is the lack of communication I felt this daycare has and how the incident was handled. No one called me. When I picked my kids up that afternoon, a teacher I did not know handed me a note in an envelope saying my daughter could no longer attend. I asked the teachers working for more details about the incident because I wanted to know what events leaded up to my child putting her hands on her teacher. None of the teachers had any idea about the incident. They all said "I don't know." When I called to speak with the director the following day she was unavailable. I asked to speak to the owner and she was unavailable too. When I dropped off my younger child the following day, I talked to one teacher to ask if she had any idea about the details of the incident, of which she did not, and all she would say is we can't allow her here. I understand that, but I also want to know what happened because my child is going through a hard time and I want to help her. I want to know what triggered such reaction, a reaction she has NEVER had. She has never tried to hit me or any other adult. My child has been in daycare since she was 6 months old and has never had an issue like this. I wish the daycare handled this situation better. I wish I could talk to someone that knew the details. I wish they had called me when the incident happened. I wish the director, assistant director, or owner would have asked to speak with me in the office and told me what happened and let me know unfortunately my daughter could no longer attend....not handed a note upon pick up by a teacher I didn't know and surrounded by teachers that no clue about the incident. Like I said, I am not a parent that thinks her child is perfect and the teachers are wrong. What my daughter did was absolutely unacceptable, I know that. Communication in general was a problem at this daycare from day one. The two stars are for my daughters' main teachers. They were wonderful and texted me directly with questions they had sometimes which I loved. It did feel disorganized at pick up an drop off but maybe that is just because I am used to my old daycare. I also had to fill out a form multiple times because they kept losing the one I completed. Overall just disorganized feel. I did not get daily report on naps/food/ diapers which is normal for my youngest child's age (I thought.) ***Update*** My girls have been attending another daycare in the area since this incident and have had no issues of this sort. It's been almost 5 months since the incident listed above. My daughter that was kicked out of LCDC for "smacking her teacher in front of a parent" has not had any issues like this at all. Has she gotten upset? Yes, of course. Has she been her stubborn self? Yes, of course. Has she acted out in violence as LCDC says she did in their facility? NO! Not once. When starting the new daycare I explained her behavior issues she had been having since her father disappeared from her life (just as I had with LCDC) and they were very understanding and worked with me and my child to improve her behavior, expressing her emotions, and increase her self confidence. I love my daughters' new daycare."
