"Like many "convenience stores", Sharp's Grocery is a place that sells gasoline, groceries and snacks. But it's a lot more than a convenience store. This place is a valuable asset to a rural area. Sharp's Grocery is located on the West side of the Kentucky River. The river is a formidable obstacle to East-West transportation in this rural area. There is only one bridge across the river between Carrollton and Frankfort. (At Gratz.) There are only two other places in the area where one can buy gasoline and Groceries, neither very close. (Ace's Groceries, and the Monterrey Market) Sharp's Grocery is small, but provides their customers with a good selection of groceries, hardware, personal necessities and household products. They sell live bait too. There's a lot of merchandise in this place and it's a little bit crowded. Just ask for what you want and they'll get it for you. This is a place where folks drop in to visit when they stop for gasoline or groceries. You can get it something to eat here too. The Kentucky River and nearby Wildlife Management Areas attract boaters, hunting and fishing enthusiasts, many of whom stop at Sharp's for the things they need. The people here are very friendly and helpful. The store is open seven days a week. Cash, credit and debit cards are accepted. The restroom is available to the public, but you'll need to ask.
