Reviews of Clayton Lake dinosaur tracks
"These tracks after a healthy rain are well defined, when not filled with sediment. This is one of my favorite spots, not for dinos.. but for dark sky observation.. Birds are abundent and early risers. Eagles, and pronghorns abundent. Its a small campground with no real facilities, but thats what its about.. enjoying nature AS IT IS, no lites, nothing but solitude of womders of the past and present."
"Our second visit. We visited a couple years ago to see a meteor shower, and discovered it has dinosaur tracks and extremely rare dinosaur tail drag marks. Quiet weekday. Few campers. We dry camped in a quiet area instead of the 7 mostly full, crowded electric/water sites."
"Dinosaur tracks! Well worth it to go check out! Tons of informational plaques, and only about a quarter-mile down one of the paths to get to. The state park has everything very clearly labeled. Very neat to go check out this bit of prehistory!"
"Like everyone has said, this place is a hidden GEM!!!!!! If your ever passing thru the corner of Texas and NM this is a must stop. Not only to stretch your legs but to learn some history. $5 fee is nothing compared to what you get in return."
"Pretty cool! Be ready to walk a good distance uphill. Proper shoes, sunscreen, light color clothing and a walking stick is my recommendation, oh and a camera! It was extremely windy when we went, I forgot a jacket! Crazy I'm only a few hours away and never been there!"
