"Would not recommend if you’re a male with curly/nappy hair. Haircut was ok. I asked my stylist if they work on black hair and she gave me a definitive yes, they could not :’). They also nicked my ear and I still had to pay full price (22$). Womp Womp"
"I’ve been to Aveda Institute many times for highlights and haircuts and always had such a positive experience. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case with my last visit. I was booked for a full foil at 5pm, but was told there was only time for a partial when I arrived. That was a mistake made by the people working in the call center so obviously I wasn’t upset with the student performing the service. No big deal. After the partial foil and shampoo were finished, the student told me there wasn’t enough time to blow dry my hair. Again, no big deal. The student, instructor, and I were the last ones at the Institute at that point and I felt really bad for keeping them there so late. The instructor then checked off on my hair so I assumed it was ok. Because my hair was still mostly wet, I couldn’t really tell how it looked when I left. I went home to blow dry it and saw that the highlights were incredibly streaky with odd placements and a brassy color. I understand these are students performing the services so I definitely wasn’t expecting perfection, but I’m having to use a new part in my hair to hide some of the weird highlights and plan to buy some purple shampoo to help with the brassiness. Probably best to spend the extra money and go to a professional."
"This location would do well to improve their standards of cleanliness and operation of equipments, meaning working appliances and either reparation or replacement if it fails to do so. For starters the bathrooms are disgusting, half of the stalls are “out of order”, one of the sinks is also not in working condition. Second the staff need more professional and personal development, some of the ladies at the front desk are very rude and condescending while I was asking questions namely “Angelica” I booked an appointment and instead of telling me before I got there that I couldn’t have a particular service done, waited for me to get there to tell me. Purely unprofessional, and a woman named “Adina” was extremely unsavory in her nature, laughing about a woman that was unsatisfied with her haircut. I could go on but the students are always wonderful and I love getting facials here I just hope they can uplift their standards. Live better do better!"
"Zero Review. NOT FOR SENIORS on a fixed budget. This place charges $40 for haircut/wash, forces product on you & did not tell my mother how much the haircut would be when she scheduled the appointment. This is outrageous! If my mother was told the price when she called to schedule, she would have hung up. They have drastically raised their rates. Go to Baldwin Beauty School for reasonable rates!"
"Lancelot was my stylist and the whole experience was phenomenal. From the hair washing with soothing essential oils and hand massage, I felt relaxed and happy the whole time! I get nervous and have sensitive skin and sensory issues, so having a compassionate touch and sensitive products is so important to me. I was glad to get a beautiful haircut at Aveda!"
