Reviews of Architectural Carpentry Materials
"Got some Hardie Planks with ACM delivered. Both Barry and Juan are a pleasure!"
"Old school lumber supply with hard to find millwork. The staff is helpful, nice, and knowledgeable."
"I am really pleased that Davis Hawn has purchased ACM to keep this high quality supplier of millwork available to boutique builders such as we are."
"I bought 17 sheets of this plywood with the intent of lining a room with it to give it a warm wood look. I asked what the normal use of this wood was and was told by a salesman at ACM that the wood is primarily used by cabinet makers for the backing, hence it would be safe for interior use. After a few days of having this wood attached to the walls in my room, I noticed that my eyes would be extremely irritated and my throat was scratchy and very bothered. I called numerous lumberyards in Dallas describing my experience with this wood, and come to find out most wood knowledgeable people I spoke with informed me that the wood more than likely had Formaldehyde in it and the result was the OUTGASSING of the Formaldehyde in this room. This is like walking into a room with chlorine in it. It just knocks you out and really is a horrible sensation. The only thing the salesman at ACM could offer was another wood product at a higher price. I bought this wood with the advice from the ACM salesman that it would be safe for interior use. This turns out not to be a fact. I then wrote the salesman a very courteous email asking that the owner please drop by my place to see and sense the effects for himself. I was not asking for a refund, but merely asking for his time to see first hand what I was having an issue with. The owner never reached out to me, nor did he ever offer to come by or call or contact me directly. I am led to believe that the owner of ACM would rather retain his revenue of this transaction instead of reaching out in person or at least over the phone to inquire about the products his company offers and what his staff sells people. His silence on this matter only tells me that the $400 he made off the transaction is worth burning a customer. I hope if you decide to purchase lumber from ACM, you expect zero after the sale and are not interested in hearing the truth about what you are buying. The process of buying the wood initially, installing it, then researching the after effects, buying a sealer, applying that, realizing it was a worthless endeavor, then having to seek alternative solutions, has not only cost me money, but my most valuable commodity; my time."
"Ive done business here off & on for over 25 yrs & will continue to do so. They have the normal millwork & the hard to find stuff too. Old fashion way of doing business. I highly recommend them. From Chief"
