"Don't expect anything good and don't expect them to follow image references. I would like to preface this by saying that I generally don't leave bad reviews at stores, even with horrible service. You could probably cuss me out my entire stay and I would probably just nod and then break down in my car and go on with my day. Bottom line: I don't like to complain. I understand that the people who work here probably aren't really paid well. I understand people work hard, and it kinda sucks when people get angry at you for that. But the most recent exchange was-- if I may say-- DREADFUL. I couldn't understand why on Earth this establishment would have 4.1 stars, given the sheer amount of mediocre experiences I've had here. It is my fault I keep coming back after getting less-than-stellar results every single time, and it is hard to expect perfection from a $12 haircut. You get what you pay for. HOWEVER. It's been two-ish months since I last got my haircut here and the results were so disappointing that I felt the need to buzz all of my hair off. (Completely my own decision, but it was ultimately because of how astonishingly bad this haircut was.) I am a transgender man (female to male). At the time, I was not medically transitioning and didn't "pass" well. Especially with the neglected shagginess I walked in with. It is almost impossible to get a haircut that you want ANYWHERE as a transgender man. I did not outwardly say I was transgender, nor did I specify that I wanted a men's haircut. But if I bring in images of a VERY CLEARLY MALE PERSON, YOU WOULD THINK I WOULD GET A MALE HAIRCUT. The images were clear and had different angles with good lighting. So why did I receive something so horrendously distant from what I asked for? Hairdressers do this thing sometimes where they will just *guess* what you want and do it, instead of going directly by what the image shows. And I get it-- sometimes it turns out better that way-- because some people expect a hairdresser to immediately understand exactly what they want without explaining anything; and when their hair doesn't look like the image they tried to send you telepathically, they go ballistic. And I understand why that would want to be avoided. But if I show you pictures, and say, "this is exactly what I want," and you just do whatever you want?? I feel I may deserve to be at least a little unhappy. She did the WHOLE CUT with shears. My hair was maybe at 1.5in the shortest and 3in at the longest. All for it to look like a grown-out buzzcut. It looked like someone took a 6 to my whole head. It was ALL EVEN, despite the reference clearly having a huge difference between the top and bottom/sides. I'm still upset after this long. Befuddled, even. It is unfortunate that I would be so agitated to be pushed to write a review. That's like an extreme for me. :("

"I learned my lesson. I decided to get a quick haircut while I was out and needed some self care. The woman who took me in was very kind but never really specified what our plan was for my hair. She started cutting 1-3inches off in various areas, short bangs in front, tapered to the crown of my head and left the back longer. I feel like I have a mullet or a grandmothers cut from a nursing home. I paid, tipped, and cried in the car. No thank you."
