Smilin Rick's Tattoo 115 Eagle Drive, Denton, TX 76201

"I'm honestly very disappointed because I have to write this review. I have been to Smiling Rick's many times and have had a few tattoos done there. I love the artists Jordan Townsend and Bug. But really the purpose for me writing this is because of the artist named Dallas. I have only had, at best, strange experiences with him and today made my friend feel awful about a tattoo that she has been wanting for years. The tattoo was just lyrics in a plain font. Nothing crazy. He told her that it wasn't exciting enough. That is was "not fun" and "boring" and "if people aren't coming up to you and saying oh can I see it that's so cool, then I haven't done my job". This completely crushed my friend and I really don't appreciate him treating her like that. This is not the first time we have tried working with Dallas and he has argued with us, made us feel dumb, and completely changed a tattoo just because it doesn't fit his preferences. We have had to leave and make appointments with other artists as a result. This would be fine in certain cases where you are working with him in an appointment but when you do walk ins you cannot be so rude to people for no reason when you hardly know them. If you go to Smiling Rick's I really wouldn't suggest going to Dallas even though he is usually the only one doing walk ins."

"I’ve been to Ian several times for my sleeve. He is always reasonably priced and friendly! He does a great job. The store is clean and the other artists are nice."

"THANK YOU JORDAN! Drove from Houston to have Jordan do a piece for me based on a cross-stitch my mother had done for me. I absolutely adore it. She is incredibly talented and nice. Met a few of the other artists while I was there and everyone was extremely friendly. I will absolutely be back soon!"

"I spent a lot of time in the chair here at Smilin Rick’s and it was some of my favorite memories to date. Ian is a fantastic artist and took my ideas to the next level. He completed my entire right arm sleeve in about a months time. He also completed a half sleeve on my left arm which is not photographed below. I will be coming back to complete my second arm sleeve, and hopefully start a full leg sleeve in the near future. Highly recommend this shop!"
