Pepe's Tamales 4024 North Mesa Street, El Paso, TX 79902

"I hate to write this review but they wont improve if they dont know. I was excited that a familiar tamale place was opening up on the west side. I normally order Gussie’s tamales but they are very inconsistent with their tamales, but I digress. Went today to buy a quart of menudo and a dozen green chicken tamales. What a disappointment. The menudo was tasty but extremely greasy. Lots of fat on the meat. All and all a 7 out of 10 for the menudo. As far as the Tamales…. 0 out of 10. I waited for a hint of flavor to make itself known after the the first bit and I ghosted. I figured I just got the one bad tamale so I tried another to only be validated that these are the worst tamales I have ever eaten. The chicken tasted like boiled chicken without sauce. A hot dog tamale probably would have tasted better than this. The customer service was amazing which makes this review so difficult to make, but customers are not purchasing your smile. They are paying for the food."

"This business is always closed when they’re supposed to be open. This is the 2nd time I drive here and they’re closed when their hours clearly state they’re supposed to be open til 3 pm. I’m going to stop wasting my gas by coming here. Last time I arrived at 1 pm and they were closed! Today they’re closed 40 minutes early."
