"We went there last night for the first time. It's incredible. Great atmosphere- quaint, moody, clean. We ordered the tuna, meat platter, chicken stew and bean salad. Everything was fresh, presented beautifully and seasoned to perfection! The portions were spot on- enough for 3 of us to take home leftovers. We were too full for dessert! Don't overlook their cocktails. I had the Paloma and it was the best one I've ever had. Make sure to check out the Secret Garden- a romantic stone grotto that is extra seating. We'll request that space on our next visit. Service was great and friendly. MUST try!"
"It’s a great cafe for small parties, such as a brunch date with a friend. The coffees are great and I like that there are dairy alternative options for creamers, I like the latte art. The food is okay. Not sure if it’s just the things I’ve ordered but I thought I was getting a sandwich both times I’ve gone and both times it was open face on untoasted bread. My meals were also served on a slate plate, which is great for picture taking but lacks practicality when eating. Very much hipster vibes. I still think it’s a great breakfast place and will continue to visit with friends."
"The food is average, nothing amazing but it's good and the outdoor space is so cute. The matcha and chai lattes are probably my favorite thing here. If you've got a sweet tooth, try the blueberry blintzes, they're great. The French dip sandwich was okay, and the Blue Dahlia Brie would be better if toasted but it was good as is."
"The Blue Dahlia is a gem on the square in San Marcos. Fresh and well-presented food in a secret garden? Fantastic. Tried the tartines (open-faced sandwiches) and they were excellent... egg salad with mildly spicy capers and brie with apricot jam and walnuts. Portion sizes are healthy in the right sense of the word. Service is attentive while contributing to a relaxing vibe. Indoors our out, a great spot. Afterwords, take a slow constitutional around the courthouse square for a very rewarding experience. Update 11/20: Again, very impressed with the service and food. This time I tried the savory crepes and chicken salad tartine. Sat inside only because it was a little damp out but the ambience of the spot is cool, warm, and artsy. Definitely a must try in San Marcos."
"We went there for lunch, and everyone enjoyed their order. My wife had their Frittata that came with a nice salad. My mother ordered the Turkey Tartine - plenty of food. She did mention she wished the bread would have been toasted. Crab cakes looked great and very tasty. I had their goat cheese salad and added on the chicken salad- wish the add the price. Great friendly service. Overall a great experience. No one left hungry and we were all satisfied with this beautiful restaurant. We'll definitely be back."
