Reviews of The Ivy
"Went and saw Lorena for a hair cut and she gave me pricing for color but I told her I wasn’t ready to book yet. I had asked her to blend the bottom a little bit more before a left and she seemed happy to do it. My cut seemed fine. I didn’t like that she cut my hair dry but oh well. A couple weeks later I text and asked her if she had openings in the next 2 weeks for the color I requested. She said she did and asked me for photos. Once I sent the photos she didn’t respond to me. I texted again that night because I figured maybe she was working and busy that day. Still no response. I messaged her on instagram because I saw she posted on her story. She blocked me after I messaged her. This rating is honestly because it’s rude and seems entitled to just block me for no reason. She could have easily just refused service instead of leading me on to think I would get an appointment within the 2 weeks I requested. I could have found a different stylist in the time I wasted waiting to hear from her. Found a different stylist and they showed me how my cut from Lorena was not even and there was a 2” difference in the length of my hair from her “blending” or whatever. She also didn’t give me the layers she swore she had. My hair had been feeling heavy on one side when I would part it, and now I understand why. Wouldn’t recommend."
"Once again Iris at The Ivy has exceeded my expectations. I admire her patience and tenacity. Her passion, artistry, active listening, and drive allows her to provide the best customer service I have experienced. Thank you for all the years of creating magic and making me feel absolutely gorgeous as my hair stylist! I guess the saying is true, “ Great hair doesn’t happen by chance. It happens by appointment!” So hurry and make your appointment with Iris at The Ivy!"
"I had the most disappointing haircut experience with Iris. She was on a very fast pace and when I showed up she was still finishing with her previous client. She then took me straight to wash my hair and when I tried to consult with her about what I wanted, she could only give me about 15 seconds of her time. I told her I wanted to keep the length and add long layers. However, I got a very choppy uneven haircut. It’s impacted my confidence negatively. The haircut quality does not reflect ‘18 years experience.’ I would NOT recommend."
"I reviewed previously and honestly wanted to come back and review again. My mom and I have continued to come back and get beautiful nails by Amanie and Jessica. Well, my grandma saw and wanted to come too. We were concerned because the stools are quite high and my grandma can't pull herself up. I reached out to Amanie and she asked to see if she could bring a portable table to do my grandma's nails. The owner said yes and Amanie got back to us quickly. We were so excited and booked right away! My grandma was so so excited. Our experience was amazing! My grandma laughed and smiled and felt so involved and pampered. She got a soft pink gel manicure with a hand massage with wax and such. She said her hands felt so smooth and it reminded her of when she was young. She is super excited to come back again and get something new! I was so thankful and they are so kind! My mom got a beautiful hot pink gel manicure, Amanie again encouraging her to step outside her comfort zone. My mom already knows what her nail colors for September, October, and November will be with the same encouragement! Jessica did magic in my nails again and introduced dip nail tips and a cute geometric design! Since I won't be able to come back before my birthday, she made sure they looked absolutely classy and gorgeous! Highly recommend these ladies. Their pricing is so good and the quality is worth much more! We don't see ourselves going anywhere else"
"I waited on reviewing until I went several times because some salons can be amazing one time and then bad the rest. I went a few months back to get acrylic nails done for a formal I was attending. I booked with Adaluz and was very happy. I had my nails for a over a month because I was out of town and the color, shape, and acrylic nail itself stayed looking amazing. My nails can grow pretty quick and most acrylics fall off after the 3rd or 4th week due to growth, but I was hitting week 6 when I finally could go back and they still looked amazing. (chrome and pink nail photo) I wanted my nails to grow out so I booked again with another woman at the salon named Jessica Bragg. Jessica did the acrylic removal and painted my nails a beautiful fiery red with a cute chrome accent! (red and chrome nail photo) I booked my mom an appointment that same day and she got a cute set of acrylics with Armani who was very sweet. My mom doesn't do nails often but did them because her preschool was having graduations. Amanie helped her pick a color she was comfortable with, shape, and length. My mom was extremely pleased! I really loved the polish(red and chrome) and it lasted for two weeks and it honestly would have lasted much longer but I busted a nail edge and so one of my chrome accent nail began to lift and being OCD, I needed to get them redone. I was so sad but it was because my nails were flexing so much since they were weak and I have naturally thin nails. I booked an appointment and they were kind enough to squeeze me in to see Hilda(I believe she isn't there anymore) but the quality was still on par. She listened to my concerns of my nail's being weak and offered to put a super super thin coat of acrylic just to strengthen my nail. Another issue I has was that my fingers curve awkwardly due to playing the violin for many years. She manage to shape them to look straight and pretty(they had grown out now to the point that it was noticeable) at almost every angle which made me incredibly happy! We did a matte look and the finish she used felt so velvety! (soft pink nude nails) When my mom and I had booked out appointments with Amanie and Jessica the first time, we were so pleased we set our appointment for a month out as that is around when my mom wanted to remove her acrylics. So we had the date set already when I made the emergency trip with Hilda. So yesterday, which was two weeks later, I went in to get a new gel set. Amanie again helped my mom step further outside her bounds and she shaped down her growing acrylics(and filled them). She helped her decide on a beautiful navy blue with a shiny finish and even did a red and silver foil accent that my mom loves now! (blue nail photo) Jessica and I decided to try a new color, a beautiful yellow however the color just did not work with me and you could see my natural nail through it despite us trying different things and several coats. It would have been fine to anyone really, but for Jessica and me, it the best work she's done. Unfortunately Jessica had an appointment waiting but insisted I come back the next day(today) so that we could make sure the my manicure was exactly what I wanted. She squeezed me in again at noon and we discussed my nail health and what I was looking at. I'll be gone again for a month so I needed something that would last, and my nail thinness is not a helpful factor. She suggested I do a dip nail instead of gel and shaped my grown nails again and the finish came out so beautiful. She made sure I was absolutely happy with my set which made me feel so much better! (deep red nails) I will be going back for all of my nail needs. The salon is amazingly kept, the women are super friendly and listen to concerns and will help decide the best options for you. The pricing is amazing too! I spent $45 on the acrylic because of my chrome and $35 for removals and new sets. I usually pay more for results that are similar and often less as good. I highly recommend this nail salon, especially Jessica and Amanie!"
