"The decor in this restaurant is immaculate. It's very rich, modern and chic. The service was impeccable. Valet parking is available at B&B Butchers or you can park on the side street. The drinks were great. I had the lychee martini and it was perfect. Every dish we had was great. My least favorite dish was the green onion pancake but it wasn't bad - just didn't taste like most green onion pancakes I've had at Chinese restaurants. The honey spare ribs were really tender. My favorite dishes were the Chilean sea bass and green beans. The sea bass was so flaky and juicy. It was mouth-watering. The green beans were SO flavorful. I will definitely be back to try some other dishes!"
"After the onslaught of Szechwan restaurants that have opened in Houston over the past few years, I was very excited to try this new Chinese restaurant. It is considerably pricier than other Chinese restaurants but the atmosphere feels fun and fancy and for dining in I was willing to pay to play. We ordered several dishes to share and some of my favorites were the vegetable salad, the general tso's chicken and the pork potstickers. The one dish I would probably not order again would be the duck fried rice which I did not love. For sure a fun restaurant to come on a date night or a night on the town with friends but would likely not hit it up for take out."
"Have you ever noticed how every SM influencer raves about "EVERY PLACE" they review and post. This restaurant is a classic example of how fake those reviews are! I "had" high expectations for this restaurant. I'm a self professed foodie! All levels of dining experiences. So, I was definitely excited to try this restaurant. I expected to be truly impressed and was really disappointed to have been very underwhelmed. So much so that I wouldn't return for a second try. Let's start with the good. To state the obvious, this restaurant exudes serious style and interior decadence for this style of food. As an interior designer, I was impressed. Rich, sumptuous color tones, fabrics, textures, a fabulous Asian inspired Chinoiserie wallpaper, and great lighting set the stage for a unique dining experience. Now to the bad. The service was not impressive at all! Over a 2 hour period of dining, our waiter offered us drinks once. That was when we were first seated. My guests drink remained empty for half of our meal. We would love to have been asked to order another. My first cocktail was disgusting. It was like drinking a fancy cough syrup. I never send drinks back. On this occasion, I did. My 2nd attempt at a cocktail as a replacement was ok. Nothing to be excited about. As the prices on the menu were very "proud", I expected to enjoy the equivalent of foodgasms as a result. That was certainly not the case. Our dumplings were beautifully presented, though simply nothing special. The seafood fried rice at least got an eyebrow raise. It was good. Damn good! Expensive, though again, damn good. The Branzino was a major miserable fail! It was such a departure from what Branzino typically represents. It was dry and basically presented as stacked fried fish on a plate. So let's sum this up, 2 cocktails, 1 appetizer, and 2 mains dishes. Our check was $178 before tip! I never have an issue spending any amount for an amazing food experience. This was absolutely not worth this amount! Houston has many incredible options. This isn't one I would rate highly at all."
"Recently enjoyed a great meal at Benny Chows on Washington Ave, right next to B&B Butchers (the two share the same valet service). The restaurant exudes a tasteful elegance, with deep red silk wall fabric juxtaposed against black seating and tables, and gold utensils-all illuminated with soft lighting. The food was excellent! We had six small dishes, each one as good as the other. Service was excellent and pricing was reasonable given the relatively large portions of even the small plates. No hesitation recommending this restaurant to those who might enjoy an elegant dining experience and some really good Cantonese food."
"WOW! I went with a friend and it was truly AMAZING. The service was impeccable, the food was fantastic, and the ambiance was excellent. We had the Crispy Garlic Chicken, Egg Drop Soup, Soft Shell Crab Fried Rice, Dry Sauteed Garlic String Beans, and Crab Rangoon. The flavor of all dishes were great and no attention to detail were left untouched. Our server was excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We will definitely return to try some of the other dishes on the menu."
