Reviews
"We were looking for a nice halal asian restaurant to eat at, and came across Wok it out. We saw good reviews on social media and thought it would be a great choice to eat at. Walking in, the ambiance was very nice, the interior was very pretty, the lady at the front was initially amicable. First warning, you have to pay & tip before service even begins. The service was fast and did not take long. However, the prices were expensive, and we expected big portions, unfortunately to our dismay, the portions did not match the price nor the quality & flavor. The presentation was good. We had paid a whole whopping 18$ for a small portion of brisket fried rice (as you can see in the pictures). We will say they gave a generous amount of brisket however it was dry and flavorless. We also ordered their Spicy Korean Fried Chicken Wings. There was nothing korean about them. Usually we expect a gochujang/sweet flavor however the result was a salty piece of chicken that was only saved by their sweet and sour sauce which comes on the side. The chicken was juicy, cooked well, and high quality. Onto their Spicy Garlic Chicken Noodles. The noodles lacked flavor, there was only a small hint of garlic and the chicken was bland, no seasoning (a reoccurring problem as you can see). The only thing we would recommend is their Thai Yellow Chicken Curry. Now heres where the real issue arises. As we expressed earlier the rice and noodles were not up to par and we only had a couple bites. We decided to return them and politely ask for them to take them off the bill. We did not want to pay such high prices for something we did not eat. The cook came out to the front (not sure where the front lady was at the time) and was very sweet about taking the dishes off our bill. We thought everything was sorted out, but after quite some time, we wondered why no one had come to address the issue. We saw some other workers (not sure if they were managers or not) but they did not come to speak to us either. After some time, the lady comes out and asks us what we wanted to do with the food. We thought we had already explained what we wanted done, but nonetheless, we explained it once more how we just wanted to return the dishes and wanted them removed off our bill (politely of course!!) and she looks at us dead in the face and says something along the lines of “It is not our fault that you do not like the dishes, if we made a mistake then I’d understand. But that is your opinion. We have never had complaints about the food, this is the first time.” Basically saying our statement was completely invalid because we “didn’t like” the food. It’s not that we didn’t like the food, it was straight up lacking flavor and small portions. She basically said all they could do for us was remake it. They used the SAME food we had just eaten from and reheated it and added some more sauce. The meat still lacked flavor after. I will say though, this is not the kitchens fault. The cooks were very sweet and bought the dishes out quickly. The woman at the front kept emphasizing the fact that she is not allowed to do anything because they didn’t make any mistakes, we just didn’t like the food. We do not recommend coming here unless you want to waste your money and time."
"Tasty Halal Asian Fusion food in the middle of Hillcroft. In addition to the vibrant ambiance of the restaurant, you will simply love the food. We had the Spicy Brisket Garlic Noodles and undoubtedly it was one of a kind!!! We were looking for something different and new. And we found our new goto place. Definitely going back there again."
