"Not good. The food was really not good, and unreasonably priced. Low quality and terrible taste. The pictures look better than what you see in person, and it looks better than it tastes. The mixed drinks were awful, so not worth popping in for those. Went on a weeknight at dinner time and there was nobody—absolutely nobody—there. Only knew they were open because of the the sign. Despite that, service was painfully slow (although friendly) and there was trash and cigarette butts all over the place. Out of 5 people in our group, nobody ate the nachos after tasting them. And those were $18 nachos. Really, it’s not good. Expected it to be “ok” based on previous reviews, but can’t give it that. Recommend finding somewhere else to eat."
"I miss the old Verde. I was craving the “famous” Frog Dip and was super excited to try the new and improved Adobe. We stopped in around 2 on a Saturday as a group of 4. Our server mixed up our drink orders multiple times. No big deal. The margaritas were not fully frozen. No biggie. We had to ask multiple times to get napkins and we were never brought or offered water. Whatever, maybe they’re short staffed. But boy, the food was subpar. The frog dip is nothing like the original - it’s runny, and had a layer of oil sitting on top. The original frog dip was thick, with substance to it. The flavor was not even close to correct. The chips were obviously not made in house, and the salsa was flavorless. I ordered the flautas and they were good, though the beans tasted (and looked) like they came straight out of a can. Overall, it was a disappointment. There are so many other tex mex options in NB, I don’t think we’ll be back. Total bummer because the renovation looks nice, and the location has a great history behind it."
"It's not the same place it used to be. The food was better 20 years ago. They have almost doubled the prices and give half portions. Hands down, worst queso in town, wasn't even melted all the way down, zero flavor as well. Chips taste like chemicals, complete garbage! I'm not sure how this place stays open other than its location, keeping it afloat. Will NEVER come back to this place. BRING BACK THE OLD OWNERS & FOOD!!!!!!!"
"It’s a true hole in the wall for Gruene standards. Came on a busy Saturday afternoon for lunch. Food was very tasty and I was really impressed with the flavors. I had a simple chicken quesadillas and rice. Rice was some of the best Mexican rice I’ve experienced. My friend had the tortilla soup and it was also tasty and well done. I’d come back again for sure. This was a pleasant surprise."
"Maybe it was just the day on the lake, but one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Fajitas were okay. Nice place with a cool patio. Manager and staff were very friendly. Great service. Dog friendly outdoor area."
