"Went for a new patient visit, for cleaning. Office insisted that I need a full set of Xrays before the doctor can even see me. I have healthy teeth, no symptoms, and prior xrays in the last several years have been all normal. ADA guidelines state that for adults with teeth: "A full-mouth intraoral radiographic examination is appropriate when the patient presents with clinical evidence of generalized dental disease or a history of extensive dental treatment." I asked the doctor to explain if he can do an oral exam, and see if he sees evidence of disease first. He refused and said that a full dental xrays are his policy and that I can leave. I asked him is he can explain the risks and benefits of a proposed intervention, other than just office policy. He said that it is his office policy and that I can leave. Stay away from a doctor who insists doing a procedure without even taking a history and exam, just because it is his policy."

"I have been going to Dr. James Kim and Dr. Gail, periodontist, for three years and both treated me. Both of them are very professional and I am very satisfied with the result. I have a chronic gum disease so I saw Dr. Gail more often. I had a gum surgery a year ago by Dr. Gail. I had no pain during and after surgery. She is very skillful, professional and sincere. Whenever I call the office asking about my gum problem she always get back to me . She even calls me on her off day from home. That is how caring she is for her patients. I have never met any dentists who care about my gum issues than her. I recommend Dr. Gail to anyone with gum issue."

"I'm new to Austin, TX and needed to find a new dentist. I had told Dr. Kim the right side of my mouth was bothering me so he took a look and found a cavity. He proceeded to tell me that I had one on the same tooth in the same area on my left side and that it had to do with mirroring. He explained to me that this is when the opposite tooth has the same issues. So for example if I wasn't brushing the right tooth correctly I wasn't brushing the left tooth correctly either. He stated I wouldn't be able to see the cavity on that tooth but I would just need to trust him on it that it was there. The day came around to have my teeth worked on and I let the front desk know I just wanted to proceed with the cavity that I could see and that was hurting me. The assistant came out and took me back and tried to explain to me over and over that I had a cavity on the left side as well. I stated I understood but that I was just wanting to get the right side done and see if I could stop the left side from developing much more. Dr. Kim came in and stated yet again that I had a cavity on the left side to which I responded that I may but I was just hoping to get the right side worked on. He proceeded to laugh at me with his assistant and eventually said "Whatever. Whatever you want to do we will just do that" as he laughed at me. Stunned that he was so unprofessional about it I told him I wouldn't be proceeding with any treatment. He said "seriously?" and left the room. I was blown away as I'm pretty chill and easy going and didn't know how we got to this point. I went to a new dentist the next week and didn't say anything about my mouth. I just let them know I was searching for a new dentist in the area. After doing a thorough exam she let me know I had a cavity on the right side of my mouth (the side I knew I had one on). I asked if she could see anything on the left side, she stated she couldn't and that I just had one cavity. I didn't want to go around spewing false information so I actually got a third opinion. It was the same as the second dentist. All this to say I rarely write a review but I would stay away from Dr. Kim. He was rude, unprofessional, and seems that he wasn't being truthful about the "mirroring effect cavity" on the left side of my mouth."
