"If you’re looking to have unnecessary work done on your teeth or want a dental team that doesn’t listen and is focused on revenue and profits, this is your place! I’ve seen a dentist every 6 months since childhood, over 40 years. After moving from MN to Texas mid-year I needed to find a new dentist - but already had my annual bite wing x-rays taken in the spring in MN. I inquired multiple times with the staff about insurance coverage for a new patient visit and cleaning, and was assured insurance would cover everything. I even had my MN dentist send my bite wing x-rays to Dr Shafer’s office. They won’t do an initial visit and cleaning at the same time. They first do a new patient visit where they can do x-rays - and then they quickly offer a list of teeth they want to do work on and the costs. For me - that was 8 teeth! How quickly they showed my excellent insurance coverage for all this work though! I prefer to take a more conservative approach and none of my teeth were giving me any issues, so I got a second opinion. Then the bill comes for the cleaning and all the x-rays they took. Insurance won’t pay for the bite wing x-rays as they are limited to once per year. This was after I asked them by phone, email, and in person the day of my visit about the insurance coverage since I already had these taken at my prior dentist last spring. The staff didn’t listen and still took them and assured me insurance would cover them, and then billed me. I’ll find another dentist that listens to their patients and takes a more conservative approach to dentistry, rather than doing crowns and replacing old fillings that are still holding up perfectly."

"Dr. Shafer and his entire team including the awesome front desk team are simply wonderful to work with. I have been a patient for 8 years with zero complaints or issues. The entire team are courteous, helpful, enjoyable to be around, easy to speak with and helpful for all issues including insurance, procedures, scheduling, etc. Shafer Dental is a top 10 dental practice in the North Texas region."

"Unfortunately I never even had the opportunity to meet Dr. Shafer. I called and left a voicemail as an interested new patient to join his practice, no phone call back from his office staff. I filled out an online new patient request form, still nothing. I called again 2 weeks later and was informed we will take X-rays and have an introductory appointment prior to the second appointment cleaning date is set. I agreed and even emailed my recent X-rays from my previous dentist. Front Office took all of my information down and I was entered into their system. An appointment date was set. I called to confirm morning of my appointment and they said they didn't have me scheduled for an appointment. Well glad I checked before driving over. On to a better dental practice."
