"The atmosphere is good and the service is good but the best thing is the food since the new chef is from Veracruz Mexico. In the taste of the food you can feel the most authentic flavor of the Mexican roots and we can see it with the roast beef tacos. which are made with handmade tortillas with a rating of 10 and the ranchero chicken which is a delight but the shrimp ceviche tostadas are perfect and also the freshly made guacamole for the same reason I recommend EL MAGUEY 100% Mexican food you need to try it now"

"I frequent mexican restaurants ATLEAST 2-3 times a week. I love trying ones i’ve never had and let me just tell you from the moment we walked in I should have walked out. I’m mad at my self. It was early and the floors were disgusting. I let them know with each order (3) we can not have pork. We did get a drink from the bar which was awful but that doesn’t bother me at places but the flavor of it being wrong did bother me a little. Not enough to complain though. THE FOOD WAS SERVED COLD on the skillets that are suppose to be so hot you need a mit. Again received pork on my daughters plate. After trying my cold and nasty food i was willing to eat it just so I didn’t complain but just wanted to order some type of salsa to smother it in and my husband was going to do the same. But our server didn’t check back for 20 minutes and when he did and saw full plates(even colder now) i told him we were unsatisfied and couldn’t even tell him about our daughters having pork to correct it bc he never came back so we just didn’t want it. he walked to a stand and just stared at us for like 8 minutes until my husband approached him and asked for a manager that they didn’t have on duty. So then they came back with a phone and i’m assuming the owner was on the other end which told us to never come back as if we would and to basically just leave . I could keep going on. Since i have to leave at least one star i will say the freakin complimentary chips were the only good thing and that’s sad bc that’s not what we come for."
