Reviews of Bristol Bar & Grille Downtown
"I had their signature hamburger and it was excellent. It came with “skillet fries” which were sliced potatoes fried in a skillet. And they very good. They had a decent beer selection and a good selection of other drinks. Very good ambiance and the noise level was low during our time there."
"Very knowledgeable about allergens. I am allergic to wheat, egg, soy, and dairy, and my friend is allergic to citrus, and they were very conscientious throughout the whole meal. The GM, Jeff, was very kind and made sure we were always taken care of. Our waiter, Leondre, took very good care of us, and was incredibly patient with all of my food allergies and quirks. The chef, Arthur, made me an off-menu curry that was to die for. I'm not generally a fan of cooked tomatoes, but the grape tomatoes used were the most perfectly cooked tomatoes I've ever tasted. Ever. They don't have a dedicated fryer, so fried foods are out, but they are careful about cross-contamination, and I felt perfectly fine after eating (and I am sensitive to cross-contamination). Overall, I was quite impressed with this restaurant, and I will definitely return the next time I'm in Louisville."
"A very nice place to eat. We stopped in to try the famous Louisville Hot Brown. It did not disappoint. The thick cuts of turkey were tender and flavorful. The sauce was also very good. The Derby pie was still warm when served and has a delicious flavor. The wait staff was friendly and it is in a great location."
"The dining area was very quiet during lunch hours but the staff and service were very kind and accommodating to everyone in the building. I wasn't expecting much since we stopped in for a quick lunch. However, I was taken aback by the richness and complex flavors found in the sweet chili linguini. The sweetness is quite rich at first, but combining it with a bite of the savory blackened chicken and the tangy pickled cabbage makes for a heavy and complex flavor profile. It is quite heavy on the stomach, but it is certainly worth it. The black cherry Manhattan was white delicate and balanced with just enough sweetness and little to no ethanol bite that made for a versatile sipping experience worth taking home to replicate. I'd be curious to see how well their dinner service is based solely on how pleasantly surprising the lunch experience was."
