"Food and service were great! We were visiting the area from out of town and looking for a diner. This was a great option! Only downside, they are a little hard to find as the sign by the road isn't that big. It seems like it's in a hotel or apartment building."
"Saturday September 23rd 2023 Yesterday my wife and I were headed home from seeing a friend down in Tennessee. To get off the road for a bit we visited the Kentucky Railway Museum across the street then came over to Howie’s to eat. Howie’s is a nice restaurant. The waitress staff were very nice and the food good. Would definitely recommend a visit both for locals and anyone passing through the area."
"The waitress couldn't have been more friendly and attentive. I didn't have anything special, just a grilled ham & cheese, with tater tots, but they were delicious. It appeared that a lot of locals go there, which is always a good sign. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone passing through town."
"I absolutely loved this place, visited during a busy time during Thomas the train day and it was absolutely lovely to be there. The servers definitely were amazing during it, they got this. Great job ladies!! My friend and I had gotten BLT's and the hot ham and cheese with fries and a house salad. Everything was fresh, delicious and big portions. If I'm ever in the area I'd def. go back. Parking lot was somewhat limited on a busy day but the servers said it's usually not that busy!! I'm also not from around there either, from Michigan, so as an outsider they made me feel really welcomed! My best regards Lindsey"
"No-frills, bare-boned, old style restaurant. The furniture isn't fancy. There is no ambiance. Just plain and honest. Like the food. We came upon this place by happenstance on our way to and from Abraham Lincoln's childhood home. Honestly we stopped because the place has the same first name as I do. What serendipity! They offer all items on their low-tech typed-with-cross-outs menu for take-out. We shared an order of fried pickles, since I've never had one. Mistake! I should have gotten my own portion! So wonderously yummy! I had Howie's Double Cheeseburger, "dressed," as they say. Quite scrumptious. It the patties were like my Grandma used to make, no uniform cookie-cutter burgers here. My buddy got a dog smothered, and I mean smothered, in chile. His wife's order required the use of a fork, which somehow our take-out order did not include. The fries were nothing special. But, each of us enjoyed our selection ... especially the fried pickle. All the items were reasonably priced. Dishes are prepared individually at the time of order, so be prepared to wait a bit on a take-out order. They have dessert specials posted on a small chalkboard. There is a $4.99 minimum on credit card orders. For the "Howie" in your clan, they have reasonably priced Howie's promotional items. This Howie got himself a hat!"
