"pouse is English so we are always looking for English pub standards where we can find them. Came here for lunch on a Saturday. We ordered the fish and chips the Grumpy burger and a sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Overall the food was cooked beautifully. I was surprised at how good the fish and chips were! I’d argue they are definitely the best I’ve had in the states and stand up to the better places I’ve had in the UK. The mushy peas were fresh and not that out of a can atomic green brand that most UK pubs serve which is a plus if you like fresh food, but could be a minus if you’re homesick and are looking for that specific taste of home. The service was great… not too overbearing and not ignored… the only area we ran into issue is that the website and online to go menus did not match what we saw once we got there, so we gathered that they are still in early restaurant logistics mode, but this didn’t really interfere with our experience as what we wanted was consistent across both online and in person menus… overall a very lovely experience, and we look forward to coming back again."
"I’m always excited for a new restaurant on the Square. The Grumpy George definitely gets bonus points for being a unique establishment for the area - a British pub is just what Georgetown needs! The food was overall very good and tasty albeit the portions were on the smaller side. We enjoyed the selection of beers on tap and the atmosphere. A great opportunity to try something different and sample some authentic pub cuisine."
"Finally a British pub in Georgetown with an authentic British menu. Great food which is good quality and a great atmosphere. British beers on tap include Old Speckled hen and London Pride as well as some local and other international/domestic brews. To correct another reviewer they DO serve food but as with any new restaurant they have wisely chosen a soft opening approach"
"We heard from a friend about Grumpy George. Some local Brits decided to open a pub/bar, simple as that. We took the family for lunch this week. The inside looks like a British pub / bar a bit. It is located just off the famous Georgetown TX beautiful downtown square. I had fish and chips. Okay, I am not a huge fan of fish and chips as I find it bland, but I have tried it around the world, from long johns, to London. The fish at Grump George was cooked perfectly. There were two large pieces. The fish was golden crispy outside and the inside was a delicate piece of cod (I suppose). It came with tartar sauce. I asked for ketchup of course. But first I tried it with malt vinegar. It surprised me how good the two tasted together. The chips / fries were fresh, homemade with a bit of dusting. They were good. The lady had some type of sandwich / crusted pie thing. She really liked it. She also had the mushy peas which were good. The Yute had a fried fish sandwich and chips / fries. He devoured it quickly. The service was very good. The young lady checked on us frequently and was working very quickly. It is nice to have a unique Euro style restaurant in Georgetown. The lunch menu wasn't that large, but the dinner menu has more options. Pleasant experience. We will go back again. Phil 4:6"
"One of Georgetown's newest restaurants near the square. A British pub with a limited menu right now. Get there at 5 PM, as its tricky to get a reservations. Fish & chips were good, bangers & mashed looked good too. Pimms cup was good, but a bit too much ice for $15."
