Reviews of Scout Bar
"As a band, this is an amazing place to play an intimate gig. The sound mixing and lights are among the best. Good sized stage, too, nice little set up. For guests, the bar is well-stocked with standard selections (nothing fancy) and the pizza isn't too shabby. Get there early for seats that aren't right under the speakers but still have a view of the stage, especially if you can't handle bar height chairs. More than half the seating is more of a side view of the stage. There's a small space up front for those prone to bouts of dance (or whatever passes for dancing). Scout Bar books great acts that play a variety of music, but tend to lean toward hard rock and heavy metal. Most do require a door charge, but it's usually reasonable for the quality of show."
"Last night's death metal extravaganza at Scout Bar in Houston was nothing short of mind-melting brilliance, courtesy of the titans Suffocation, Incantation, and Skeletal Remains. The air was thick with anticipation as the crowd gathered, a motley crew of metalheads eager for a night of sonic obliteration. Skeletal Remains kicked things off with a ferocious intensity that set the tone for the evening. Their razor-sharp riffs and bone-crushing rhythms had the crowd headbanging in unison, proving that these guys are a force to be reckoned with in the death metal realm. The energy in the room was electric, and Skeletal Remains fueled the flames. Incantation took the stage like ancient demons summoned from the depths of hell. Their set was a visceral onslaught of guttural vocals and labyrinthine guitar work that transported the audience to a realm of darkness. The sheer sonic density of their performance was a testament to their legendary status in the death metal pantheon. And then came Suffocation, the undisputed kings of brutal death metal. From the moment they unleashed their first earth-shattering notes, the pit erupted into a chaotic frenzy. Ricky Meyers' guttural growls resonated like thunder, and the band's technical prowess left jaws on the floor. Frank would be proud. Suffocation's set was a masterclass in brutality, a sonic tempest that left everyone in the venue in awe. The Scout Bar may never be the same after hosting this triumvirate of death metal excellence. Suffocation, Incantation, and Skeletal Remains delivered a night of auditory pandemonium that will be etched into the memories of Houston's metal community for years to come. If you missed this show, you missed a journey to the very heart of death metal's ferocious soul."
"Great place for live music. Thank the good lord for free parking! All of the tickets honestly are cheap and you really get to experience the music up close and personal. The drinks are made strong and there are lots of places to sit. They have tons of different bands playing all the time and a great selection of rock music. Overall the place is pretty clean and we had a great time seeing lots of amazing bands. They have a good security and nothing crazy broke out. Overall I would follow them and see who pops up for a performance. I would definitely go again."
"So this place is amazing as a performer or as a concert goer. Great sized venue. They make drinks fast and are friendly as all hell. Hardly a line because they are so professional. The food is standard bar food but done really well. Damn chicken tenders saved my life today. First real meal I ate and it was delicious and they had great sauce options. The bathrooms are nice. Great stage. AC is on point. Couldn’t ask for anything else."
"Great bar and concert venue! Courteous and friendly service. Broad drink selection available. Outstanding decor with walls lined with miniature guitars and photos for past artists and shows. Unlike other such venues there are plentiful tables available for reservation and a solid stage and sound setup. I felt like the sound setup led to somewhat muddy vocals distinction but overall a good mix. Also kudos to a spot in Houston that knows how to keep the temps cool even in the hot summertime! Don't hesitate to head to events here."
