Reviews of Ducky McShweeney's
"Recently hosted a Gatsby theme fundraiser party for a neighborhood school’s PTO, in the speakeasy upstairs… Literally did not have to bring any decor and barely lifted a finger regarding what was needed/requested. The space upstairs was beyond our expectations! Christina, their event coordinator, was amazing and responsive with all communication throughout the process. Jay, on the management team, was also quite the asset, taking care of us throughout the evening. Both Christina & Jay, along with their bartenders gave us hands down, the best experience and service! Everyone was professional and charismatic. Our party is appreciative of all their efforts, making our nite one for the books. 10/10 recommend"
"From the moment I stepped into Ducky McSheeney's, I knew I was in for a treat. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a quirky charm that made me feel right at home. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. What truly set this visit apart, however, was the involvement of Natsuki, the area director. Natsuki's dedication to customer satisfaction was evident in every detail of the restaurant's operation. Her passion for creating a delightful dining experience shone through in the way she interacted with both the staff and customers. She was personable, attentive, and genuinely interested in making sure everyone had a great time. The food was another highlight of the evening. Each dish was a masterpiece of flavor and presentation, clearly crafted with care and expertise. The menu offered a fantastic variety, catering to all tastes and preferences. I was particularly impressed by how Natsuki and her team managed to create a perfect balance between a professional yet relaxed atmosphere. It's rare to find a place that feels like a gourmet experience and a cozy get-together at the same time. In conclusion, Ducky McSheeney"
"I'd call this an Irish Pub "lite". The shepherds pie was crustless and the mashed potatoes were runny. The flavor was great, but we had to buy a pretzel and used it as a dip. However, it's open late."
"It’s not your average Irish Pub, it’s really nice with the vibe. They have shuffle board and dart boards. A lot of comfortable sofas that you can lounge on. They also have a side room that you can hold events at that has a limited bar there as well. Would say it’s a cool spot to come in for drinks and watch sports, or just play darts or shuffle board."
"WARNING: Be very careful at this establishment…they appear to not just be acting as a criminal enterprise but also supportive of it as well…To the best to my knowledge, in the past, this business has declared credit charges under the name name, “A Fish Restaurant” which was confirmed to be fraudulent by one of my my credit card company. They are also billing credit cards under “Sushi on Post Oak” while the business here remains Ducky McShweeney’s. One of their bartenders was rude to me; repeatedly ignoring me while I was trying to order beverages. On this evening (Thursday, April 6) I found that their bartender charged me a 20% surcharge on my check for a party of one. The only reason I found out about this is because I asked for an itemized receipt. Had I not asked for this itemized receipt I would have perhaps tipped 20% gratuity (plus) on top of an undisclosed and added 20 % service charge. When I mentioned to Bartender Deborah about this charge she asked, “How much were you going to tip?” I asked her to void the check and she said, “[name], you’re making me do all this extra work!” She did not disclose to me the 20% service charge being added to my check though they charged it directly to my card without disclosing on the credit card receipt; Deborah also provided no apology for doing this. It makes me think that they have probably done this to me before. Do you ever wonder why your checks are so high here? According to a friend at least 2 other people have spoke to management and/or bartenders here about automatically billing cards without providing itemized receipts but it appears they are still doing it. I have seen someone with a gun at this bar (reported to their previous general manager). Also, various people here repeatedly abuse and antagonize regular patrons. I cannot tell you how many people (and credit card merchants) they may be committing credit card fraud against because I honestly don’t know—I would suggest that you avoid this bar entirely. UPDATE: Recently, I was asked to remove this review in order to frequent this establishment again. However, on the evening of Thursday, August 24, 2023, I attempted to speak to the current [general] manager about an employee who had supposedly been demoted from management. The manager I spoke with became combative and threatened that he will have me banned again thus this review has been placed back up on google maps for visibility (the interaction appeared to have been witnessed by the doorman). This particular manager exhibits callousness and a meanness consistent with psychopathy. At this point I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC*) against the organization which runs this bar for circumstances consistent with: credit card fraud, unethical business practices and/or possible tax evasion. *The FTC works with more than 2800 policing agencies"
