Reviews of Madurai Thattu Kadai
"Most of the menu items, especially Kalakki, Dosa, and Sambar, showcased a perfect blend of flavors and textures, with each bite offering a satisfying burst of savory goodness and nothing short of perfection. It felt like a comforting embrace, transporting me to the vibrant streets of South India with each spoonful. The authenticity of the dishes was further complemented by the warm and traditional ambiance of street foods in Tamilnadu. Cons: Serving hot food like Sambar in foam containers."
"Very Authentic South Indian(Tamilnadu style) Food. Chicken 65 and Nethili fry was very good. Plain Kalakki with the Chalna is awesome(**If the Kalakki served in the small piece of banana leaf it would have taken it to the next level). The Chalna tastes very Authentic. And the Biriyani package we bought is really a lot for the money we have paid for. I really recommend it."
"5 stars for the pomphret fish and grilled chicken Ordered pomfret fish, kothu parota, dindugal mutton biryani and grilled chicken. Kothu parota is average and decent Fish and grilled chicken are one of the best I have had before. Both use same masala probably why I liked them both so much. Dindugal mutton biryani just melted in the mouth. Perfect dindugal style. This is for people who are used to Tamil nadu cuisine before or else often could be misunderstood as overcooked rice. Biryanis came with a dessert (double ka meetha aka bread halwa) is a cherry on the top. Cons: Long wait time to get food once ordered 15 min to get a table on weekends isn't bad in the area It's a BYOB so some people may not like the beer smell around."
"I recently visited Madurai Thattu Kadai an Indian restaurant located in the heart of the city and I must say my experience was truly delightful. From the moment I stepped inside I was greeted with warm smiles and hospitable service which set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. The restaurant has a cozy ambiance with beautiful decor that reflects the cultural heritage of Madurai. The seating arrangement was comfortable and the overall cleanliness was commendable. The staff members were attentive knowledgeable and always ready to assist with any requests or queries. Now let's talk about the highlight of the experience—the food. Madurai Thattu Kadai specializes in South Indian cuisine and boy they do it right. The menu featured a wide variety of dishes from traditional dosas and idlis to flavorful curries and biryanis. Each dish was freshly prepared bursting with authentic flavors and presented beautifully. I started my meal with the classic masala dosa which was crisp on the outside and had a perfectly spiced potato filling. The accompanying coconut chutney and sambar were the perfect accompaniments offering a delightful burst of flavors. The dosa was so mouthwatering that I couldn't help but order another one to satisfy my craving. For the main course I opted for their signature Madurai chicken curry accompanied by fluffy white rice. The chicken pieces were tender and cooked to perfection bathing in a rich aromatic blend of spices. Each bite was a heavenly explosion of flavors and the portion size was generous. To round off my meal I indulged in a serving of their traditional filter coffee. It was a perfect ending to my culinary journey at Madurai Thattu Kadai—a rich aromatic coffee that left me feeling satisfied and content. The pricing at Madurai Thattu Kadai is reasonable considering the quality and taste of the food provided. The portion sizes were substantial ensuring that you leave the restaurant with a happy and satiated palate. Overall I highly recommend Madurai Thattu Kadai for anyone looking to experience the true flavors of South Indian cuisine. The pleasant ambiance exceptional service and amazing food will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on your taste buds. Whether you're a fan of dosas biryanis or curries this restaurant is where you want to be. I will definitely be returning to explore more of their menu offerings soon!"
