"My wife and I live in Austin. We stopped by on our way home from a long cave tour at nearby Longhorn Caverns State Park. It was almost closing on a Sunday night. We were greeted by a very nice lady who obliged us by seating us in a booth next to the front window. The atmosphere was very warm and down home. We had immediate service from another friendly person. We had lots of questions about food recommendations. We weren’t disappointed with the suggestions. We tried the fried pickles as an appetizer, strip steak, burger and peach cobbler. All delicious. The sides (okra & cabbage) were equally wonderful. Compared to the abundance of overpriced/under delivered restaurants in Austin, it was refreshing to step back in time again and enjoy good food and good service at a fair price. We loved the beauty of the surrounding area so I imagine we will be back on another weekend getaway. And when we do, we’ll make sure to stop by Mama’s on the way home…"
