"Was excited to try this place but was sorely disappointed. The ambiance is very hip and lively. The food was decent but not spectacular. What killed the experience was our server Francesco. He kept telling us that certain dishes can't be made spicy. We asked for some fresh Thai peppers when we were sitting at the bar, and we took it to the table with us when we sat down. He asked where we got that from because the kitchen is not supposed to do that. Later we asked someone else for some more fresh Thai peppers and when Francesco saw it, he wanted to know who gave it to us. I told him we're not telling because why are you being so difficult about us wanting to eat spicy food when you won't let us get certain dishes spicy?? He was also very inflexible about letting us order pork AND tofu on some dishes. Our whole table was annoyed with him. Despite the highly annoying service, the food was decent. The crispy pork belly with sticky rice and the shrimp pad thai were my favorite dishes. The pad see ew was my least favorite dish. The noodles were very dry and stuck together and had no flavor. The pork meatballs were hot and crispy and also pretty good. The shrimp fried rice was also yummy. The red curry was flavorful too."
"Best Thai food in Houston. Recently visited Thailand, and this was reliving the experience. Great portions, taste, heat, and spice. I don't even eat mushrooms, and the off the menu special, tempura mushrooms were amazing. I had two Thai teas because they were that good. I would order several things and share them with the table. Items don't come out in any particular order. Made fresh and brought out hot. So if you share, everyone gets a little of everything and aren't waiting on their dish."
"Went here because of the James Beard nomination. Located in a bit sketchy area - but it’s a nice restaurant. Based on the crowd and staff, I wasn’t expecting authentic Thai food. But the flavor and preparation was pretty good indeed. Spiciness levels are pretty Thai-like. Medium is very hot. Thai spicy will probably melt your face. I’m giving one star less because I wanted regular red curry, but this place only offers it with Pumpkin (?). The pork inside was too soft and not crispy at all - felt almost undercooked (even though it wasn’t). The chicken in our Drunken noodle was a bit too dry P.S. this place automatically adds 22% gratuity to the check. But the prices overall are fair"
"I thought this place might be whitewashed due to the interior ambiance but wow those drunken noodles had me gripping the table praying, AND I have a high spice tolerance! Our server didn’t offer the option to change the spice level and wow it was definitely truly Thai spice level. I adored the food and the crispy pork belly was my favorite bite I’ve had the whole month. Loved the green curry and tom yum soup as well. Thai tea is a must-order (it’s nice and sweet). I still can’t believe the drunken noodles didn’t have an option to change the spice as we ordered the tom yum soup as a medium and it was a good medium. Those drunken noodles had me regretting my life choices. Speaking of the service, it was all very lackluster maybe due to the 22% service charge added onto the check, so be warned. Food was great and definitely Thai, although the interior doesn’t seem authentic at first. ***My rating is only based on the food***"
