"I went there because on instagram and tt, it showed that it was so fun. The drinks looked amazing but in person it was not that. Drinks did not come dressed as they displayed on the menu and online. Service staff was under alot of pressure as there was alot of customers but not enough staff. They definitely need a better system . Better atmosphere as it was lacking"

"I write this review with both satisfaction and sadness. I have been going to El Pueblito regularly since 2005. I count Eduardo, the owner, as a friend. But, as with everything in life, things change. The old menu was an amazing array of seafood dishes from the Yucatan. They are gone now, and I miss them. On the other hand, the cabanas and the patio, which were always major draws to the restaurant, have been upgraded. The decoration and ambience are beyond charming, even better than before. The menu is very different, but also very good. I had the birria tacos (the new staple), which offer options of beef fajita, goat, and lamb. I tried all three, and they were all excellent. I probably liked the lamb the best. My wife ordered the birria noodles, which, though a strange combination, was also very good. The chips are different, and probably an upgrade as they are a little fresher and thicker. I do miss the old green and red salsas, but the new salsas are also very good, especially the green salsa (available upon request). The margaritas are still excellent--best frozen in town. I didn't notice a difference at all. I understand that Eduardo still owns the restaurant, but I did not see him. The new manager, David, was extremely cordial, and I like the vision he has for the place. Overall, I really like it. Whether I like it better than the old El Pueblito (it's now El Pueblito de Frida), I can't say. It's different: better in some ways, but not others. Still, this spot remains a Houston staple, and you really must try it and eat in one of the cabanas on a nice day!"

"The food is good but to be honest I go to this place for their Margaritas. I rate them as the best frozen Margaritas in the city. They do an excellent job on their Margaritas and serve them on carved Coconuts/Pineapples. They have a great outside seating setup that allows you to enjoy a quiet conversation. If you want to grab a Marg and sit outside for a chat or just to enjoy some solo time - I would recommend this spot."

"This place has been around for over 30 years, serving muy delicious food. The guacamole, flautas rice, seafood selection was just yummy. The detail to all the handmade decor made this place a tropical getaway."
