Reviews of Nitram's Kitchen
"I ordered the pasta and it taste like nothing but old bay or crab boil seasoning. My shrimp weren’t grilled as shown in the photo they were undercooked. Throwing crawfish boil on fool doesn’t make it Cajun."
"I truly don’t understand the 5-Star Reviews unless the cheeseburgers and egg rolls I see people mention are much better than what I got. I ordered the catfish and grits for breakfast. I was looking forward to what I thought would be good food based on the 4.6 rating on UberEats. I was terribly disappointed. The grits were horrible…I couldn’t even eat them; they were too undercooked. The catfish was salty and overcooked. The sauce tasted like crab boil flavoring mixed with heavy cream and salt…very heavy on the crab boil flavor. I was really not in the mood to cook this morning but, honestly, I wish I would have. Lesson learned."
"I ordered via UberEATS. It was so bad I don't know where to begin. I gave 2 stars only because of the excellent packaging and presentation! If the food tasted as good as it was packaged and appeared I would be excited. However, I am left with a feeling of regret for trying something new. I've had bad experiences with UberEATS on more than one occasion. So, I made sure to not only order from a top rated restaurant but also look it up on Google and go to the website too. Still wound up with an epic fail. Which is why I'm here to share with others so you don't waste your money. First, I want to share that Chef Nitram is regarded as a top chef (#9 in Houston is what his website proclaims). So, of course, I believed this was going to be an awesome meal. Instead, I received a beautiful plate of garbage. And I do mean exactly what I am saying. The presentation was great. Greens bowled separately and cornbread muffin perched in the center of the see thru plate. When I saw this I was ready to devour that food. Clearly this Chef understands that we eat with our eyes first! If presentation was the only factor I'd give him an 8/10. But, that's not all that matters. Taste has to match or exceed presentation. The taste fell flat at every turn. From the salty greens (possibly canned) to the sweet cornbread (possibly Jiffy or some other box/bag brand); to the baked (not smothered) chicken on top of water flavored instant rice all covered in thick packaged brown gravy; to the over seasoned canned yams and the weirdly flavored milk cheese mac and cheese. Absolutely everything was awful. It is unbelievable that anyone would give this 5 stars. Must be people who don't know how to cook and never had a home cooked meal (from scratch, not processed). I don't know if it's the affects of the pandemic or what, but why restaurants think they can serve up canned and instant foods and people won't notice is beyond me. I've never been to anyone's culinary school, and I'm no chef, but I was raised in a cooking and baking family. I know good food when I get it. This was not that! The taste was a zero for me. I can't believe it looks so good yet tastes so bad. I had to go back and compare it to the picture in the app. The app picture must be a stock photo. Unfortunately, UberEATS doesn't refund for bad tasting food. So, it's become another lesson and reminder why I shouldn't buy delivery food unless I've been to the restaurant and know for sure that I'm getting good food. If you're accustomed to eating processed foods, don't cook and never had from scratch home cooked meals then you might enjoy the meal and think it's great. Proceed with caution."
"we love the food and their prices. Soul food and good American Burgers etc. Breakfast and lunch what i usually buy from their. There are no Asian restaurants, but this place does have good chicken fried rice. I saw egg rolls on their menu. Great Fried Chicken also."
"First off I was impressed by the family atmosphere (the owner and his mom were cooking in the kitchen together) then she convinced me to try the boudin balls. They are amazing, and these 3 balls are full meal by itself. I'll be back"
