Halcyon

"I’m not a coffee drinker but I love the fact that the Halcyon functions as a community space hosting Latin dance classes! I think this one of the few remaining “third places” in Austin where you can see familiar faces in a non-work environment without any planning. Main feedback for improvement: -Offer water cups. Dancing is a workout and I often find myself dehydrated. I don’t want to waste plastic by buying a water bottle. -Lower the music volume. It’s a really small space and the music is way too loud. It’s hard to even hear the dance partners. I feel like if I don’t wear earplugs I’m going to get permanent hearing damage. -Offer intermediate classes too! I think a lot of the classes are too basic. It would be cool if there were intermediate classes one day of the week."

"This coffee shop offers a satisfying Americano for $3.5, served in a spacious environment opposite the park. The ample indoor seating and excellent customer service make it a great spot for a relaxing coffee break."

"Really great space! The coffee is great, and they sell a great variety of cocktails as well. My favorite detail about this place is that on every Wednesday and Sunday night they have salsa and Bachata dancing going on. They have a complementary dance class starting at 7 PM going on until 8 PM, and then after that there is a social dance for anyone who wants to have fun. It’s a great way to meet people, exercise, and learn an amazing new skill. Definitely recommend this activity for a fun date night in the Mueller area."

"I brought my mom here for breakfast and was incredibly disappointed. First, we were told we could not order a carafe of mimosas because they didn’t have any carafes (we had to point out the carafes behind the bar to the employee) then, they forgot to make them. Next, my mom ordered the fried egg breakfast sandwich that did not come out at all as advertised. It was piece of bread- not even toasted- with a hard piece of cheese and an overcooked egg. She sent it back and it was remade STILL WRONG. The service was absolutely terrible, the food was terrible. Do not go here. Also, how are you going to advertise as a coffee bar but have bad coffee?"
