Reviews of Cơm Gà Houston
"An excellent choice for a quick, delicious, easy to eat meal. I've dined here and have ordered takeout several times; the quality of the com ga has been consistent every time. The chicken is never dry and it seems like the chefs take care to remove any bones for a hassle-free meal. The rice, soup, and toppings, including the sauces, have such good harmony with no one flavor overpowering the other down to the last bite. Definitely a go-to place for me for the foreseeable future."
"Finally tried this restaurant since they open and it was very good. We got the miến gà(clear noodle with bamboo shoot and phở gà đặc biệt(special chicken pho). Both were delicious! Sercice was attentive and nice. They also offered complimentary passion fruit drink. Overall, i would recommend and will be back."
"The food was good, especially for anyone who likes a lighter taste. I don’t know if the food was supposed to be like that but the chicken meat and intestines were very cold and weren’t warmed up. The service was good. Overall I had a good experience and will come back."
"Not sure why everybody is complaining about the service. You’re at a Vietnamese restaurant during the hype and expect fine dining. We went during lunch on a Monday and service was fine. Food was good. Chicken was moist and broth was well seasoned. The place is not super clean. That’s the only problem"
"Came in at dinner time, the hype is still real so the place was packed. The server guy was particularly rude when I asked him to take my order after seeing the table that arrived after us got their orders in. He then came by and argued with me and made excuses that tables get waited on in the order that they arrive, showed me his list that I was after them, and that these are small things I'm bickering about. I only got his attention because we also waited for a while without any service. Throughout our time there, we witnessed him losing orders for another table. Saw a table walk out because of slow service. Him saying people are getting worked up over small things to another table (about me). Heard him make excuses why the food comes out so slow. If you come, you'll know exactly who I'm talking about as all the other younger servers are nice and hardworking. The food was quite good actually. Chicken is not the traditional free range chicken, a little fatty, but that's what I prefer anyway. Got the Com Ga Special, which comes with rice and chicken, soup with chicken hearts, and fish sauce dipping. They ran out of fish sauce so we got small containers of it. Soup broth was delicious and flavorful, not too salty. Chicken portion was a little stingy in my opinion, but was meaty. It's prepped ahead of time and cold, so not sure why it took them 30 min+ to bring it out. I'd recommend waiting for them to get their process in order and iron out their horrible customer service before checking them out. Sort the latest reviews to see how much they've improved before you come. Average was 2.9 stars at the time I tried it. I know you wouldn't expect customer service at Vietnamese restaurants, but this server in particular was pretty bad. He acts like he owns the place (maybe he does, but claims he doesn't) and does not accept his mistakes. Reminds me of a place in Vietnam where you come to eat and they scold you (on purpose) as part of the service. But if you'd rather try the food right away, then be prepared to deal with the shortcomings."
