"Perhaps the new male manager needs to go to sensitivity training or stay in a shelter for a few weeks. In August I found myself needing to stay at mission granbury due to domestic violence and left my home with only the clothes in my back seat. The shelter was amazing and provided me resources to get on my feet quickly. I had received a gift card for new beginnings resale shop to get some clothes. The experience was great as an older woman assisted me at check out. Unfortunately my next few encounters were humiliating. The shelter put a chair on hold for me as I began to gather things for my new apartment. This manager was extremely rude as I went to pick it up and made me feel embarrassed for asking for help. The second encounter A few weeks later was to assist in some household items. When I arrived I was suppose to speak to a lady that wasn't there of whom was to be gathering items on my list. I asked them to put a couch on hold for me during this visit and also came across a wicker basket that was $4.00 and as I went to pay the lady didn't want to charge me. I insisted and she began to argue with the male manager who also insisted I pay and began getting loud and by this time the check out line was getting longer and everyone was aware I was in Mission Granbury shelter. There went shelter confidentiality. Humiliating. I payed the 4.00 for the basket. Needless to say I didn't go back to get couch that the shelter was going to cover and lied to my case worker that I was getting one from a family member. Today I visited this store to get some winter clothing and I heard the same manager" there's that girl that wanted a discount at a resale shop". Let's be clear. I never wanted a discount. The associate wanted to give me one due to my circumstances. It was $4.00. I might have been starting over with nothing but I had the 4.00 to pay for the basket or I wouldn't of been in line. You should be ashamed of yourself. I still sit here in my apartment with no furniture all because you made me feel less than you. I'm pretty sure the donations given to this resale shop are to assist in clients staying in the shelter. I will never return and I hope there are consequences for your horrible actions."
"I’ve been shopping here for years even before they moved locations. I never had a bad experience. I noticed other reviews stating staff being discriminatory against Hispanic or parents. I should mention that I am Hispanic and have a little boy who’s very mischievous. However, I have never had an issue with either. Have always been treated kindly and with respect. This store has very affordable items, I wish they had more kids clothing. Has been a life saver when starting a new job as a single mother. I truly believe they live up to their cause. I will miss this store when I move away for my new job. Yet I leave very thankful, this store has made possible this new beginning in my life. Pretty much all my clothes, including my office clothes has come from this store. Thank you for all you do."
"I volunteered here with my sister to get some extra community service hours for my school honors society. When I walked in I was welcomed by the manager with great hospitality. Throughout the day I got lots of friendly and appreciative comments for being there from other regular volunteers. I did different jobs including sorting sizes of clothes, putting clothes on racks, and color coding shirts/pants according to their size. I loved how it was such an organized work space and environment. I will definitely be back and all around think it is a great organization to donate to, volunteer for, and especially shop there!"
"Do not support this store at all. Absolute, most rude people work at this store. I will not be back and I will make sure to share my experience with friends. This was our first and absolute last time we will be in. We drove several hours to Granbury to visit family. My tired 3 year old started to cry when I told her we needed to try to use the restroom before leaving. We went in the restroom and came out as my 3 year old was still upset and crying. My other older two kids were with my mother. We were about to check out. As we were walking to the register, my 5 year old dropped a couple of little plastic kids plates that she was carrying. The lady working in the store walked over and told me that I needed to control my children! I was very upset and embarrassed as my 3 year old who was well after her nap time was still crying and my 5 year old was next to me feeling badly about dropping her plates that she picked out. I told the lady I was doing my best and we set our things down and left out to the parking lot. My mother stayed in the store to check out. As she was in the line waiting to pay, the same lady working here was complaining TO A CUSTOMER checking out, about how I needed to discipline my children and how terrible it was. I'm not sure if she expected me to spank my children in the middle of the store or what but it was VERY rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional. Maybe she doesn't have kids or has never SEEN a tired 3 year old before. But I was appalled at how rudely we were treated. If you don't want kids in your store don't sell toys. I hope that the manager is made aware of this and fixes this issue of rude customer service before this store goes out of business. We also were not treated very kindly by others working here but this was the straw that broke the camel's back for sure."
