"Five guys is good. Terrible pricing, but that’s basically just bad pricing with the way things are today. The menu is designed to be simple. Then, add this or that, and bam… you got what you ordered. It’s a good bun, good beef (or so I think), and the toppings are what you make of them. The toppings do have a good quality overall, so I did get crispy onions that didn’t taste of sulphur, snappy tomatoes that didn’t get soggy from the heat, and the grilled shrooms were tight and just as juicy as you would want. It’s simple. The fries are ok, but there is a mountain of them so accuracy by volume there. Everything points to a good burger joint. Bad stuff is to come though. The hot dogs are just a little less than serviceable. My bun completely broke in half length wise, so that made a hot dog sandwich basically. Speaking of the hot dogs, the menu simplicity is on trial for items like the hot dog. I don’t know if there is a secret language ala in-n-out, but it’s hard to translate to the 18 year old in the back what you are getting at with your order. I tried my best to replicate a Chicago style dog. They don’t have the ingredients to make that (more on that in a moment), and I completely understand that is a huge ask for a menu banking on simplicity. There could be more focus on having a “note” with your order whether online or in store. This could give a better description of what you want to achieve. I’m all for the regular hot dog with mustard and relish, but can we get an option or even significance of sweet or dill for the relish? Online ordering is easy, but the vision that you can craft a simple burger is left wanting if you don’t want a completely belt fed assembly line simple burger. Adding a couple ingredients (or variations of) would add a crazy amount of simple flourishes. Swiss or provolone cheese if you would like a Swiss mushroom burger. The option for a special hot dog like a Chicago dog. If Sonic can do it, then any other restaurant on the face of the earth should be able to. You don’t even have to go too deep with it. Just know how to make it, and let people know how to order it. I don’t need a poppyseed bun. Sport peppers would be great, but slightly less necessary. Heck, put sauerkraut on the ingredients! The possibilities are endless. Boiling it down, Five Guys does what it’s supposed to do. Simple menu, good ingredients, and pretty fast service. It misses on ease of ordering if you want something memorable. And, I repeat the sentiments of many before me, the prices are a little much. However, if users are saying that they had to pay nearly $50 for two burgers and a large fry… that’s some deluxe stuff. I got two burgers, a hot dog, and a fry for around $40. Too much, but not crazy like previous reviewers. Price high, quality ingredients, simple food. It’s a burger joint built for the average person, and it won’t be anything more than that until they either expand the menu slightly, or they lower the prices in a way that helps the simplicity of the menu. Think the original McDonalds before Ray Kroc punched it so hard that it became the thing it is today. Great idea undone by pricing. Will eat again when I specifically want a normal burger with good ingredients for a high price. Also, the hot dogs NEED reworking."
"Honest Review. Have been to several locations. This place was good but not great. If it wasn’t for the free peanuts and free refills I think all 5 Guys would go under due to price. It’s a quality burger and great fries you have to dip the fries in malt vinegar. That’s really how to eat their fries."
"expensive $33 for two cheeseburgers and one large fry to go. Burgers were good but fries not edible 4 times the necessary salt! Long wait and music was very loud. There are better local burgers, Patties and Rick's both on 1187."
"I thought the fries were greasy and not cooked long enough. Wanted to get a cup for water, and he was charging the same price as if you ordered a soft drink. I noticed the price before we paid for the food. I asked him why he charged so much, and he said, "You have to pay for the cup." I had him remove it from the ticket. I won't be going back. I have always loved 5 Guys, but this was not an enjoyable meal."
"So they are popular, with a catchy name, but so is the price of food for my son and I. We're talking, two hamburger with cheese and bacon, one regular Fri to split and only one soft drink the bill was $45. Wow!!! I expected $30 at the most. Fries and drink are separate from the $12 burgers. The cup of fries shown waa $10. The place was kept clean, the staff friendly and cheerful as new customers arrived. The food was good, especiallythe style of fries, free peanuts too. Napkins were wimpy, for the mesy burger. I think we will try elsewhere next time as the competition is fierce in Texas."
