"Greeted at the door with some not so well welcoming to see only another set of people in this desolated restaurant. Order a few things with small modifications to order met with rolled eyes and annoyance with the wait staff of one. When food arrived I had to send back as food did not meet any sorts of expectations let alone standards food was made with whatever they could find was cheapest as meat was either dark or chuck steak while being stated as strip. With how atrocious the visits was the icing on the cake was to then pay a high bill I would expect to see at a better restaurant with more to it. This place has no music no outstanding anything besides the airplane which on doesn’t occur nearly as often as I’ve seen in other comments."
"Quaint Country Restaurant with a View Nestled in Angleton, TX countryside, there is a quaint little restaurant that offers a unique dining experience. As you approach, you can see small airplanes taking off and landing on a nearby airstrip. The restaurant itself is right in front of the runway and you can watch the airplanes and helicopters taking off and landing from inside the restaurant or you can enjoy the view from a fenced in patio that seems to be an arms reach from the parked planes. For my appetizer, I ordered the fried calamari. The calamari was perfectly cooked, with a light and crispy batter. The accompanying marinara sauce was flavorful and tangy. For my main course, I ordered the baked redfish with fresh vegetables. The fish was flaky and tender, and the vegetables were fresh and tasty. My only complaint is that the fish was not cooked thoroughly in the middle. I brought this to the attention of my server, and they quickly apologized and offered to recook the fish. Despite this minor setback, I would still highly recommend this restaurant. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is charming, and the views of the airplanes and helicopters are awesome. My grands loved the experience. If you are looking for a unique, family dining experience, be sure to check out this quaint country restaurant. Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars Food: 4 out of 5 stars Atmosphere: 5 out of 5 stars"
"$12.99 for catfish (nice big fillet), three shrimp and three oysters and coleslaw, what’s not to like. Friendly waitstaff too."
"Burger was big and good. $20+ steak was inedible, tough, overcooked, strange almost rotten flavor. They took it back and discounted me a few dollars as I ate 3 small (jumbo) shrimp, they were good. Charged me for untouched sides, premium price, about $6.99 each for veggies and baked potato. I expected a decent edible steak. Was disappointed. No time to order a burger instead of I would have."
"What can I say about the Runway Cafe, except it is very hard to get a seat at times, I guess that says it all about their food, I have been coming to the Runway for quite some time and they always have excellent food. The owner is a very outgoing, talking to his guest and his staff is the same, very polite and professional. After church on Sundays a few of us will go out for lunch, a few is generally over 10 and more like 15, and they are always willing to accommodate what ever amount we have. For the excellent food and the great service this place gets 4 stars from me. Another beautiful day and a great lunch awaits us here at The Runway Cafe. Yes I know, I have a hard time deciding between Mexican, Asian and Sea Food, but today it is Sea Food. We all started out with a good salad and then I ordered fried shrimp and catfish on a bed of french fries. Rich had a crab cake with fried shrimp on a bed of fries which was the special of the day while Carl & Walter decided on 2 different fried rice dishes. Yes they have a great menu. featuring a lot of great dishes, even Asian, so if you happen to be headed south on Hwy 288 get off on 220, turn right and it will…Read more Keep up the…Read more"
