"The food was amazing as always! The chicken Marsala and Shrimp Scampi are my favorites! The bread cannot be beat and the service was great! Sebastian really knows how to make you feel at home while enjoying a meal with the whole family!"
"The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Alay took care of us from the very beginning and made sure that my wife and I had a blast. We had a bottle of the Bonanza wine, the meat+charcuterie board and the "Pasta Mafia" chef special. We will definitely be coming back!"
"Checked in to our room pretty late closed to about 830pm….since Double Cut supposedly closed at 9 even though it was listed for 10pm we turned to Sortino. Orderd the fried calamari 2 pasta entrees and the tiramisu dessert. Service was nice, attentive and friendly. Fried calamari was fried well could of season it a bit more. The seafood diavla pasta was well portion and nice flavor. The pasta mafia dish I feel it was a bit underwhelming considering it’s 30+ $. Although the steak was cooked well and was tender, but just with a few bits of broccoli florets and some red:orange pepper slices..,falls short of something named the “mafia” …if there was another 1-2 more protein included like sausage or meatballs then that would deem worthy of its name. The tiramisu dessert was probably the highlight of the dinner. Light, but nice tiramisu flavor. I ate almost the whole thing my self…."
"I'm conflicted about writing this one. Service needs improvement. Eggplant Parm needs improvement. Penne vodka sauce on the noodles with the eggplant parm was amazing. Cannolis good. The eggplant within the eggplant Parm seemed like it wasn't cooked all the way through or just.. something went wrong. I've never made the dish myself before but had it plenty of times at the chain Maggiano's and usually the middle of the eggplant can be easily cut through with a butter knife. This time, there was tough skin and inside was also slightly too firm. The pasta that went with my eggplant Parm though, holy amazeballs. Yum! My husband had some too and wished he ordered my pasta alone instead of his ragu! The fried dessert was strange because it looked nothing like the pictures of what it should look like in Italy. Sure, maybe the Americanized version is different. The Cannolis were good! We were surprised it came with two, enough to share among the table. Our server needs a lot of improvement. I think it was just the language barrier. It was hard to discuss the food with him. It's not his fault, really! Something I don't have pictured is that I ordered a Shirley temple and it didn't have any cherries in it. Usually when I get this drink, including at the Double Cut steakhouse, it has cherries in it. Kind of a bummer since I only order it to feel like I have a cocktail like everyone else, but no big deal. I'm also conflicted saying negative feedback here because we met the chef at the first annual Kalahari Food and wine fest last year (2022) and he's a very nice guy, with talent for adding a kick to typical Italian food! I wish I could stomach spicy food and could have tried his unique take dishes. I recommend them if you can! This restaurant was also so much cheaper to eat at than the Double Cut steakhouse, so there is probably a tighter budget for them to work with."
"I deeply regret not reading reviews before making the reservation. When I was about to share my experience, I checked some other reviews and found that many people had similar or even worse experiences than mine! Since I have a special fondness for Italian cuisine from my time in Europe, I confidently chose Sortino’s during our family trip to Kalahari. However, it turned out to be the worst dining experience, and their food was the most unpleasant Italian meal I've ever had. We made a reservation for 9:15 pm, but we weren't allowed to enter 5-10minutes early. When we waited outside, by the window where we could see there were many empty tables, but nobody took care of them. On the table a large portion of pizza and plenty of pasta left there. It wasn't until I received my own food that I understood why so many people left their dishes half-eaten. The food was just terrible, and everyone seemed rather hungry than finishing their meals. Remember, if a restaurant consistently has leftover food, it's a clear sign that there's an issue with the taste, not something else! Even after entering the restaurant at the reserved time, we still waited for 50 minutes to get our food. The chicken was overly salty and tasteless, while the beef seemed like pre-cooked and dry, almost like microwave-heated slices on the plate. Despite the disappointment, we ended up finishing it because we were too hungry, especially after a day of exhausting swimming activities. It felt like we had no other choice. I hope that those reading my review can avoid this disappointing experience and have a more enjoyable time during their Kalahari trip!"
