Reviews of Tryon Palace
"What a great tribute to early Americana. Beautifully maintained, knowledgeable staff, great historical interaction. Perfect for families and individuals. I could spend hours here!"
"Beautiful gardens and interesting history. Only annoying thing was as part of the tour which costs $20 per adult (5 and above) which I think is a bit expensive, you will have to listen to the tour guide talk non-stop for 45 mins and you are basically held as a hostage lol ... a unique experience though."
"Had an amazing experience. It was my 1st time getting to see a Revolutionary War era historical place. It was such an experience to see these things. The tour was great and informative. It's definitely worth it if you got the time."
"A must for anyone interested in the colonial period. When it's below 90 degrees, they have a nice exhibit outside showing how the Revolutionary War soldiers lived."
"This is one of the historical places to visit in New Bern. This used to be the Governor's Palace (Governor Tryon) when NC state was one of the 13 English colonies. Beautiful historic palace guarded by beautiful gardens. I bought a Palace tour ticket which had access to the palace and all the garden areas. Palace tour is a guided tour which allows you to walk through all the rooms of the palace including Governors library, Bed area, Dining area, Staff quarters etc. The palace was built on its original foundation after the original palace caught fire. The guide gave a lot of information related to the palace as she had good knowledge of it. It takes almost 45 minutes for a full walk through the palace. Garden area was really nice to hang around."
