Reviews of Silverdale Confederate Cemetery
"Nice little spot of history after visiting mckays. The entrance and road are narrow but its worth paying a visit to."
"Interesting cemetery located near a lot of close by stores. When you drive up the road, it’s almost like a park when you reach the cemetery. Interesting place to go if you want to learn about local Confederate history. Be careful going here as it is not the best area. Tip: bring a camera to capture the landscape."
"Nice cemetery for Confederate soldiers, kind of hidden but it's across from the Waffle House & beside a hotel"
"Really old cemetery with a lot of history, it’s hard to believe there are 155 soldiers buried out there. A part of history that the new America hasn’t messed with yet"
"Silverdale Confederate Cemetery: A Place where the tree hallows I am a lover of History and Archeology…good reasons to travel. While visiting friends in Dalton, GA, they invited me to visit historical sites in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This cemetery received my attention. A brief story tells us that the 155 unknown confederate graves belong to soldiers that died from disease. Apparently they were wounded during the Kentucky campaign of General Braxton Bragg. I was also told an interesting fact, apparently among the graves, there is one that belongs to an African American male and a nurse. The place is quiet and the trees do moved by the soft breeze. I suppose they do rendered respect to the ones gone. Regardless of what they believed, they made the ultimate sacrifice, dying for a cause. The cemetery is located on an access road off of Old Highway 11 in Chattanooga, near the Bonny Oaks Drive exit from Interstate 75. Travel, learn and share!"
